is there anywhere we can look to see what kind of stats would likely get someone the regents scholarship at davis?

I got the regent scholarship,

I had a 4.1 weighted HS GPA, 3.9 unweighted. 2160 SAT score, 34 ACT. Had a good number of extra currics and such

thanks!! hmmm so it seems at least possible for a 3.85 uw, 2140 sat score?? nice. :D

Does one need to file the financial aids form for Regents? My parents are reluctant to do it since they feel we may not be eligible for need-based aids.

^i dunno but i’d sure like to know…

in regards to the OP’s question, i am a regents scholar at davis. i was EFC, 4.0 uw GPA, 8 AP classes (passed all), don’t remember UC GPA – something like 4.6, i think?, and hella extracurriculars + leadership in everything, i think, except for one (i was part of leadership in… 5 clubs/activities, i think?). oh, and volunteer service. 790, 760 SATIIs, and 2220 SATI. :]

to be game for regents, imo, berkeley should be a match/slight reach for you. hope that helps.

in regards to whether you should file FAFSA for regents, you should. regents is COMPLETELY merit-based, and filling out a FAFSA can only help you! you will get the minimum 7.5k, and whatever your EFC can’t cover at davis (yes, it’s a spiffy deal. meaning, if your EFC is 1k, davis will pay the rest for you to attend!). so fill it out – it won’t hurt you at all. :]

^Those are some great stats! I think Berkeley would be considered a slight reach/match for me, but SAT’s/SAT II’s aren’t nearly as good as yours. But here’s hoping, anyway! :)

As for the financial aid thing, I’m still confused. Do you mean that we have to file FAFSA specifically for Regents somewhere? Or that we just file the usual FAFSA and it has nothing to do with Regents? Sorry for my ignorance.

just fill out your FAFSA just like normal, and make sure you send it to davis when you submit it. there’s no “special place” for regents. :]

good luck~

Thanks! That’s exactly what I wanted to know. :)

sutoroberrii, did you get into Berkeley and LA? And, were you contacted for regents (offered interview) anywhere else, like Berkeley, LA, or SD?

no problem. :]

and yes, i did get into berkeley and la.

berkeley and la tell you to apply separately for the scholarship. then they give you an interview if you pass the application process.

SD and davis automatically give you the scholarship.

apparently, at irvine, you apply. you’re either accepted or rejected… no interview.

idk about SB or any of the other schools. hope that helps!

Can transfers get the regents scholarship as well? If so does anyone know some stats for them?

Thanks again sutoroberrii.

So did you get contacted for Berkeley and UCLA regents (asked to apply)?
