ppl do we really really need to post everyone's stats?!?!?! just give it up. we can't really guess wat they want from us. if we get in great. if we dont' too bad. at least we got rejected from one of the best. so there's no point in posting it!!! cuz none of us are the actual admission officer.

"none" is singular biyach!

right and u care because...?

for the sake of the English language, most likely...

or comic relief, chill out

I am trying to better you as a human being! :) besides, you should respect me: look at our ages; I'm a year smarter than you! :p

And spanks, now that you mention it, you actually are totally right. Of course I was just joking around, but in truth, it is sad that the education system doesn't produce students who know of the really basic grammar pitfalls. It's not their fault, the education system is almost entirely to blame for not teaching grammar anymore. I had a huge void in any grammar education where we learned literally NOTHING of it between 6th grade, untracked survey "language arts" and senior year AP English Literature.

okie dokie guys.

Haha, sweet, a fellow grammar nazi. Yeah, I have no idea how I picked up on grammar, but it definitely had very little to do with my education. It's sad, some people don't even know how to "was" and "were" correctly.

you guys are mean

Yeah, I don't get what's up with them...probably stressed 'cause of prelims, but then again, we all are at this point. ;) Don't mind them.

You guys are too touchy...he was joking at first, then we discussed grammar/lack there of...no need to take it personally, it's no longer about you ;).

Nah, last week was stressful, this one is meh.

glad not to be the center of attention. so how's life guys?

since you guys seem to like to correct each other..."thereof" is one word ^_^

and about the whole grammar issue - I don't know about you guys, but at my school there are a lot of immigrants, 1st generation, or even 0 generation kids. I know a bunch of peolple whose first language is not English. Thus their grammar is not always correct. Be a little more forgiving with grammar mistakes - some people get "was" and "were" mixed up because in their language, there is no difference in conjugation of the verb for the plural or singular.

anyways ~ hey, mimisugar - how's life in the cornell board??

Spelling isn't grammar ;)...calm down, he wasn't being serious...and I wasn't the person who corrected the OP, Jesus. Oh, and I didn't think you could abruptly start a sentence with "thus" either :). Anyways, this is getting mighty lame, considering the reply to the original post wasn't meant as an insult or a personal attack at the poster...it was just a mistake, wow.

Moving on...this thread doesn't seem to have much of a point, even if the grammar debate is disregarded.

life at cornell is a little stressfull right now. A quick rundown of my list of things to do:

4 term papers due next monday
280 pages of history reading
Statistics prelim on tuesday: cummulative from chapters 1-27
Stats homework due tomorrow, 3 chapters. havn't started.
1 42 page org. behavior chapter to read
1 47 page human resource chapter to read
1 HR case study for friday.

I'm about to start my own thread "be a Cornellian for a day! Have a taste of the Cornell experience by volunteering your time and doing the assignments of a current student!" Anybody game?

Genetics is killing me! I've had to go into lab every day since last Friday only to discover today that our data is useless and we'll need to get new data tomorrow (1 day before the lab report is due). That's only 1 out of the 2 lab reports due on Friday. Apparently, they think it makes a lot of sense for us to work on three labs simultaneously. I also appreciate them sticking the third genetics prelim on the day before Thanksgiving break. Ah, so much to give thanks for!

spanks - you're right, this thread doesn't seem to have much of a point anymore (though u can start a sentence with "thus")

really, i think this was mimisugar's attempt to create a more social thread in cornell's forum rather than one focused on academics and stats and stuff. basically, she's saying, "get a life, people"

yeah, i get sick of the stats posts too. i dont mind giving out tips/pointers to help with admission, but if i see another "4.0, 2400 SAT, appointed by the president to succeed" ... grr.

lets move topics. **** stats. in fact, **** statistics 212 the class.

to current cornellians, what does your course schedule look like for next semester?

Chibiajiajin- I know, that's why I used the word "abruptly"...moving on...

Gomestar, that's awful...I'm still up studying for my chem 207 prelim...I pulled my first all nighter two days ago :(...I'm literally noctural, it's bizarre. I couldn't fall asleep last night until 4AM or so, but passed out in the middle of the day.

Next semester...I don't even know yet...Chem 208 is the only definite thing...I might take physics to get it over with. I want to take psych 101, but there wasn't space last semester, so who knows. I think I might take some AEM courses; I've been thinking about double majoring in bio and AEM (is that allowed?). I was going to take genetics till I read Norcalguy's post, lol. I think I might take it easy for the sake of my GPA and my sanity.

Norcalguy, do you suggest not taking genetics as a freshman? I was going to take it next semester. How hard is it compared to evolutionary bio? I'm taking that now...

I miss getting A's without doing work...oh well, at least tomorrow is my last prelim :)

This week:
-2 prelims (one, Chem 207, is tonight)
-2 papers (one Sociology, one quail feed trial)
-presentation today
-hours-long AnSci homework due tomorrow and I really am nowhere near the end...

...yeah, I'm definitely taking a nice long nap after today...

As far as next semester...looks like 9 credits of Animal Science (3 classes), 3 of Social Psychology and 4 of Chem 208ness. :p

No, you shouldn't take genetics as a freshman. It's probably the most time consuming class I've taken at Cornell. There are two 2-hour lectures + 1 mandatory (err...optional) 1 1/2 hour problem solving session a week + 2 hours of "official" lab time + anywhere between 1-8 additional hours that must be spent in lab outside of the regularly scheduled lab time. The class is 5 credits but should be approx. 7 credits.

Anyway, my schedule for next semester:
BioBM 432 Survey of Cell Bio
BioBM 440 Biochem Lab
Comparative Lit 202
Some 100 level History course about Western Civilization
