the ppl on penn are soo much nicer!!! wow i wish i applied ED to penn instead of cornell, where i got ppl whining like little girls about grammar.

haha...i've been telling you this since forever....

ya. but penn doesn't have a hotel school. so i dont' really have a choice

Nobody has a hotel school. Except cornell. A wharton degree looks pretty good on your resume for the Waldorf Astoria as well ;).

Wow, judging Cornell on the basis of message board postings...LOL.

And you complain about how people on the Cornell board are "whining like little girls"...so you crawl to the Penn board and do some crying of you own!

go to the "stats" thread on the cornell board...then you'll see exactly why mimisugar came to the Penn board.

Haha, come on spyrey, you know penn is easily the coolest Ivy. and wharton on your resume looks pretty good anywhere, not just the waldorf astoria.

I saw the "stats" thread...I just don't see how people could get so offended because of a critique on grammar, especially on some college message board.

However, the OP seeking refuge on the Penn forum...that was the real kicker. LOL.

Penn is cool, my cousin loved it there...but I just bleed Big Red.

she wasn't offended because of the grammar - it was because the guy that responded to her post called her a "biyach" and then was like it was just a joke, chill out. honestly, that thread has got to be one of the dumbest arguments i've ever seen - and to my shame i took part in it (though in defense of a friend)

and about seeking refuge on the Penn forum: i'll let u in on a secret. it's because i applied ED to Penn and she applied ED to Cornell and as we're friends, we obviously constantly talk about our dream schools. so i kept telling her how much i loved the Penn forum and of course how it's so much better (don't take offense at this - this is just because Penn is my number one and i'm talking with school spirit - though sadly i don't go there >.< yet, hopefully...) that's why she came over to the Penn forum and started this thread. she's just joking though - she totally loves Cornell and really hopes to get in (though i'm not sure she ever wants to meet those guys who posted on the "stats" thread lol) whoops! secrets out! haha

i wanna go to cornell, no doubt about it. but from that one thread i'm not too sure about the ppl.

and yes the secret is out :)

I usually don't get inside jokes if I'm not on the inside. :(

don't worry about the applicants, worry about the students. I've talked to a bunch of cornellians. I used to live about 75 minutes from campus.....which is aboot 25-30 mi, but rural NY speed limits (which only I seem to notice) and ITHACA TRAFFIC, plus the horrendous parking scene on campus makes it 75-120 min. But i digress....anyhow, the students there are REALLY cool, second only to Penn, IMO.
I know there's a thread about this already, but:

1) Penn: very friendly
2) Cornell: almost penn, but the winters make a few people snappy
3) Dartmouth: a little animal house, but they're ok
4) Yale: yes, yale...a little jealous over harvard, but they're a better school, so they can deal with it
5) Brown: they can be a little weird, but generally they are pretty nice, and friendly
6) Princeton: yeah.......
7) Columbia: i don't like columbia, and everybody goes there cuz its "in", but the students arent as bad as:
8) Harvard: no explanation needed

And earlier there was some serious Cornell-hating on here. Cornell is AWESOME. Way underrated, prob better than brown, columbia, harvard....maybe dartmouth...idk a lot about dartmouth. But don't discount Cornell....second best Ivy, IMO.

lol. i'm doing ED to cornell. so i do love it. dont' get me wrong. the ppl that responded on my thread on the cornell forum are students there.

oo i is applyins to cornell hotel management too (if i dont get into wharton.. rather WHEN i dont get into wharton.. lol)

i was just at harvard yesterday (and being the only one from the area at the tour.. i was the only one who said hahvahd yahd.. naturally) and honest to God.. if the people on that tour were the students that I'd have to be friends with at the school (no offense to them or anything).. it makes me NOT want to apply there.. ugh..

oh.. and i was talking to a friend who goes to yale.. and i was getting kind of frustrated (shes one of those.. 'yea you will totally get in' type people) so i finally snapped..

'shut up.. im not freaking getting in so stop getting my hopes up...'

and she says.. wow youre such a little biotch.. why dont you try princeton..

that made everything better and it made my day.. ^^

princeton puts the 'p' in PMS

I may be wrong about this but I read that nothing is free at cornell...the gym, parking, internet, cable..all extra fees...really turned me off...its like what the hell am i paying them for...was i misinformed??

i have no idea. hopefully that's not the case... :(

you are correct.. my brother is a 4th year at cornell (chemical engineering.. blech!!) and he has to pay for the gym.. not parking (he didnt bring a car.. but yes they do charge a fair bit)..

hes off campus now but he did have to pay cable and internet fees when he lived in the appel commons.. my mom would always complain cause even during freshman orientation.. we had to pay for water / fruit (lol not a fruit bowl.. i mean just like 60 cents for a freaking apple)..

1 USD - Poland Springs water from Cornell
0,60 USD - Cornell Apple
44.000 USD - Cornell Education
3,99 USD - Cornell Bumper Sticker

Mother cursing at the bill in 3 languages?

Priceless.

appel commons is not a dorm, it is a community center that houses one of the best dining halls. yes, cornell sucks in nickeling and diming, no denying it, but so do a few other schools. harvard's parking is twice that of cornell (I believe) and I don't see many people complaining about that. oh well.

p.s. internet fees are included in your housing fee at cornell.

p.p.s. it's only 27K for my cornell tuition, pretty nice (although I pay nothing because of finaid) :)

lucky u!!! not fair cuz ur from ny!! :)
