Status Unchanged, BUT!

The status on my son's application is unchanged ("Your application is being reviewed by the admission committee..."). BUT!!!

Two new "new" blocks show up when you click the "Admission" tab on USConnect. These two new images showed up today -- one's titled "Admission Documents" and the other "Mid Year Grade Report".

Also when you click the "Financial Aid" tab on USConnect, there's a new image that says "Document Status for 2010-2011". There are currently 3 other images for "applying for Financial Aid", "Scholarships & Grants" and "Loans". Clicking on the "Document Status for 2010-2011" opens up a new window (esdweb.esd.usc.edu) that displays content with two tabs: one "My Documents" (all the documents they've received) and a tab "Document Library" for electronically sending documents.

Also, on the "OASIS" Financial aid site, (camel2.usc.edu) if you created an account, the links for "My 2010-2011 Awards" is now active -- it currently displays "No information available".

I suspect these are all signs that he's been accepted even though the status hasn't changed.

I have just noticed these extra boxes as well yesterday. Everything you have mentioned shows up on my usconnect website. However, I have the “forwarded” status. Hopefully you are right about this sign of acceptance!

The two boxes you’ve mentioned as new on the Admissions tab have always been there for me… Don’t know what that means, but I think they were always supposed to be there.

Don’t know about the Financial Aid tab, since I’m an international applicant and don’t qualify for financial aid.

there used to be a backdoor way of checking acceptance. find the admitted student/parent weekend web page and enter your student/application id. if you’re in, the site will let you in to give you all the info for admitted student weekend…parking passes, etc. i know in the past usc students found out a week or more before letters and emails using this method

@everyone

Those boxes have always been there, they are insignificant.

@pacheight

Someone posted about this method during the first wave of acceptances and shortly after, USC disabled it.

@dreamupsided0wn

I can only say that there was a definite change in the last day for S’s account. Never were able to view the extra boxes on admission tab, view documents box on admission tab, or get to the “My 2010-2011 Awards” page on OASIS.

I am wondering whether the link on OASIS has been active (is active) for everyone. Something changed related to his account – time will tell if there’s any significance.

the extra boxes have been there for me for about 2 weeks : P

“Someone posted about this method during the first wave of acceptances and shortly after, USC disabled it.”

damn, that would have been awesome, lol.

@jpsedona

It’s probably related to when they did a preliminary review of the application, or something. I’ve had the boxes since before February.

My S has had all those boxes, including “my awards”, etc. for a couple of weeks at least. It’s true they weren’t always there, but they’ve been there for some time.

i also had the backdoor method backfire on a friend, 3 years ago. it let her in but not as far as it should have, she miss interpreted it as “I’m in”…a week later she receives the rejected letter. brutal.

btw: her parents were alumni and she was a NMS finalist. I’m impressed with how selective SC has become. Lot of smart kids on campus!

We can’t find the “Admission Documents.” Are you using a Mac or PC? We have a Mac.

My twin brother JUST got his acceptance package from USC (Posted Jan 27th. Took one month to get here. Sucks being an international student), and his status on the USC website is still: “Your application is being reviewed by the admission committee. We will mail notification of their decision by April 1. If for some reason you don’t receive our written notice, we will be happy to provide the results over the phone beginning April 11th.”

It never changed, so I don’t know how significant these statuses are. He didn’t get a scholarship, btw. If the package was sent 1/27th, then what wave was that?

How many waves of acceptances have been given out? When’s the 3rd wave?

@ magical… - that must have been the first wave, I’m pretty certain.

Maybe the newly available boxes are a positive sign for anyone who hasn’t seen them there before, but I have had all of those things on my account since at least late December, so I’m not sure it’s material for anyone. I’d tamp down expectations for the OP until there’s more evidence one way or the other. For sure I’d be mad if my mom told me she thought I was in and then like a later poster, find out that it meant nothing at all!
