stay with UT or go out of state?

i applied to NYU, got rejected, i've been accepted to the liberal arts college at UTexas Austin, but have yet to hear from the business school where I really want to go. and i've applied to Boston University cause i've heard their business school is good.

should i just forget all this out of state crap and stick with UTexas Austin and go hard for one year, get good grades, and try to transfer into the business school if i don't get in?

or is out of state worth it?

What is your rank? I recently got in to the business school and I'm really excited about it - also applying to BU, but UT's business school is much better, even tho BU's is good also.

6/96 with a 26 ACT score..

There's a chance you could get in to the business school. Your rank is top 6.25% and I got in with a 3.8%. The cutoff fluctuates every year - last year I think it was top 5.5%.

"We project the cutoff point to be between the 5-7% ranks." - McCombs website

ut would be a ton cheaper, so if youre confident you could get in to mccombs after a year (if you dont get in now) then i'd go to texas

I would advise against enrolling in a college with the intent of transferring after a year. Its a year wasted in many respects out of the 4 you get to spend in college. 25% down the drain! And the first year is formative in many ways. Its when kids are most open to making new friends because they're all in the same boat, looking to meet people. If you go to a college intending from the day you set foot on campus to leave, you'll be less inclined to get involved in school, make friends, get to know profs, and so on. And then when you DO xfer you'll be a leg down because the other students already know the ropes in terms of expectations, reps of various majors and profs, and have built a circle of friends. Its not impossible to xfer, many kids do it, but if you could I'd advise finding a college you plan on staying all 4 years.
