So I really wanted to get into the business school but I didn't quite cut it. So I only got accepted to my second choice, Liberal Arts. Question is, should I chance transferring into the business school my sophmore year or find another school? I did get accepted to Baylor's business school but really don't want to go there.

I'm so scared to chance transferring in later. What if I try really hard and they don't let me transfer in? I wouldn't know what to do. :( What would my GPA have to be to accepted in there? And how hard are the academics at UT austin?

Any advice would be nice. I really don't know what to do. :?

Will you come in with AP credit for a year of calculus and a year of economics (micro and macro)? If so, it shouldn’t be too bad if you make an effort to take classes you expect to be easy for you (given what you are good at) from professors known to give a lot of A’s in their classes (using pick a prof) - assuming you can get into the sections of classes you prefer.

My two cents worth:
For many people who need to take two semesters of calculus and and two semesters of economics, it would hard to get a 3.8. I think you’d need A’s (not A-'s) in your other classes and A’s (not A-s) in three of the four “two semesters of calculus and two semesters of economics”, allowing for one B, but it would depend on how many credits you took each semester. I think you could allow for one or two A-'s if you don’t get any B’s. This is a high expectation for a new freshman at any college.

I’m in Cal 2 in highschool now and am pretty good at it. According to my teachers past students who went to UT Austin, they said that my teacher is a lot harder then UT’s math teachers and all of them are getting A’s. I won’t have Ap credit for Cal sadly though because I was sick on the day of the test and was unable to make it up. Nor will I have credit for Economics because I don’t have Ap Economics at my school.

I will have credit for English 1 though. And probably English 2.

Anyway though, thank you so much for that. I’m kind of stressing right now about the professors. How do I know which ones are the best and who aren’t? I don’t know anyone at UT who can give me any tips and Google doesn’t help ^^;. Does Pick a Prof have a place where professors are reviewed and rated or something that would help me pick a good one?

My overall GPA in Architectural Engineering was a 3.82. Just to reassure you, though, I made a C my first semester in honors physics. I was appalled beyond belief. I was about ready to drop out! I kept plugging, though. I made one more C in an Architectural Design class (I do not have a single artistic bone in my body, but it was good to learn what architects do).

I found that if I worked very hard, and talked to profs as soon as I was struggling, it wasn’t too hard to make an A. You do have to stay focused, though, when everyone around you seems to be partying.

Pick a prof shows the proportion of A’s, B’s, and C’s each professor gave when they taught that class in the past. So, of course, it doesn’t help if you have a new professor.

My rank was 22 out of about…500 something and I was top 3.8% in my school. Barely missed the cut to Mccombs. Blahhhh.

I decided to go with Baylor and transfer to Mccombs later on. I feel I can do better with grades at Baylor since it’s smaller and I can get more help from professors. Thanks guys!
