Stem Sequence for Competitive Schools? Need advice

Hi-My son is going into 8th, so I am a little ahead of the game, but just looking forward…Can those of you in the know list some competitive math and science sequences for high school? My son is looking into a STEM career (leaning towards Physics and Engineering) and I am a bit clueless as a homeschool mom how to advise him.

So far (he is in 7th), he has completed Derek Owens Algebra 1, Geometry 1, AoPS Counting and Probability, and will complete Algebra 2 next year in 8th. Science wise, he has taken Derek Owens Physical Science and will take Algebra based Physics next year in 8th.

Advice appreciated.

Generally it can go like this:

9th: Biology / Geometry
10th: Chemistry / Algebra II
11th: Physics / Pre-Calculus
12th: Any other AP science - Calculus (AP Calc BC)

You can shuffle the science courses however you like…make them AP, it’s completely up to you/your son. Since your son is interested in physics, he might want to do AP Physics. I didn’t technically do AP but used Apologia and Apologia’s advanced courses in science in senior year. I’m going into pharmacy and did just fine college-admissions wise. My load was:

9th: Biology
10th: Chemistry
11th: Physics
12th: Advanced Chemistry, Advanced Bio, and Advanced Pre-Med (from a different publisher)

Science and math can seem really daunting for a homeschool parent from the distance but trust me, it is doable! You have a lot of time to do planning and possibly hit up homeschool conventions/online for books and curriculum ideas.

My homeschooled D15 did AoPS through Calculus, and took the lab sciences at community college. You and your son are off to a great start!
