i checked my status and it says, "Further Review Required" what does this mean?

am958355 – Have you submitted your fall semester grades?

Perhaps you need to upload your mid-year report? I got a decision within 24 hours of doing so!

my school doesnt let us access the stuff, you have to provide an envelope for them to send it, i have done so like 3 weeks ago, im assuming they still havent recieved it.

It’s possible…My teacher and my counselor confirmed with me that they both sent in recommendations for me prior to my winter break. McGill received the first one on December 17 and didn’t get the second one until January 28.
I wouldn’t get too worried though; you still have until May-ish :)

If you check Minerva you should be able to tell if McGill received it. My daughter’s school messed up sending the mid-year reports in so we are in the same agonizing place…

Unfortunately, McGill says it takes them longer to process the mid-year reports if they’re sent by mail than if they’re posted. Any chance you guys can get a sympathetic counselor or other admin person to post your mid-year report? (If you do, read the instructions first – they’re quite specific about format and file size…)

We had to send my daughter’s SAT scores twice. If you’re a US applicant, the mail is not necessarily on your side!! Hang in there, though --there’s still plenty of time.

@Arlmom2 - We did finally get the documents and uploaded them ourselves - and got a decision in just a matter of days!

congrats! what are your stats?

@premedisa - My daughter had 2300 SATs 4.36 GPA (3.86 unweighted). We were sweating out the combined program because she had a B+ on her transcript (and mins last year were A/A-) but she was accepted!

Still waiting on most every other school she applied to. It is crazy how much work goes into picking schools to apply to - and applying - and waiting - only to have to make some super quick decisions at the end.

Hoping for the best for all those who are still waiting on a decision.

My application and transcripts have been complete since late September. I had a year abroad after high school graduation so my grade reports were already final. I even took sats (although not necessary for international students). I have been in ready to review mode for 5 months. Is it possible there is a problem? No further documents or information have been requested on minerva. It would just be nice to know and start the CAQ paperwork. I have heard of students having to defer because their immigration paperwork was still being processed.

@gomontreal – If everything’s been complete since late September, I think it’s worth giving them a call. Make sure you’ve checked the long-distance rates first, though. My daughter called to try to figure out why they hadn’t posted her SATs, and she was on hold for more than 30 minutes while they found people to talk with her…

Congrats to your daughter, @wordy. It is a crazy process, isn’t it? Even though my daughter’s heard from several schools, some won’t tell her until the very end of March or even April 1st (bad bad day to choose for giving out admissions decisions!). And it’s not clear that she’ll have all of the financial aid offers even at that point!

Hello,
I’m on further review required even though i uploaded my mid year reports on the feb 15th and they were shown as received by feb 15th night. How much longer will i have to wait. I’m an international student applying for engineering.
Thankyou
Will appreciate any sort of input

I called them this morning and pointed out I had been at ready to review with completed app and transcripts since September. I might never see further review since there is no need for additional documentation. They basically pointed out that they have till May 10 to notify us. Not very helpful. Just keep checking Minerva for additional requests was the only action they could recommend.

I know people who’ve gotten admission notices within hours of uploading their “further r r” documents. It’s been over two weeks for me. My Question is Do the people at mcgill do this conpletely randomly ?

I was asked to upload and my counsellor uploaded a week after by 12:00 pm, by 6:00pm (when I checked) I was given offers to both programs

hi, I think mcgill has made a tentative decision before applicants submit their reports. Once they receive the reports which are match their expectations they will immediately release the result.

Well, then i should probably expect a negative response
:-/. All my grades are A’s though (A levels). Thanks for the input :)

I don’t think they’ve necessarily made the decisions in advance, though that seems to have been true in some cases. I can’t remember exactly, but I think my daughter was admitted about a week after she uploaded her first semester marks. So I wouldn’t give up hope!!
