Still on waitlist?!?!

Hi, I'm on UVA's waitlist and well it's the 25th and I still haven't heard.. is this normal at all or does that mean ive gotten rejected, any input would be helpful

You don't here anything from them until early through mid june but what have you done to try to get off the waitlist?

I got off the wait-list :) My letter was dated May 11, and I got it on May 13 (I live in Northern VA). It looks like hairypotter found out a few days before me, and jjbro found out a few days after me . . . so I dunno. Other people have said that they're still choosing people until the end of June. Have you done anything to get off the wait-list? (I didn't, but it might help for you.)

Kittytofu, like hairypotter said I think you were one of their first round picks for the waitlist. I have a feeling the reason why I was put on the waitlist was because of my test scores, and to see if I really had the desire to attend UVa. Last week, I just realized that I truly do want to attend this university because of their reputation, environment, and most of all their Japanse program. Congratulations again, for getting off the waitlist.

Yep, I've actually done a lot... Sent them a letter in the week after I found out, sent my reader an email telling them I'm still interested and asking them what I should do, sent my reader another email talking about recent honors and awards and all that, then I had a friend who knows the Dean of Admissions put in a call. I hope that works

how did you find out who your reader is?

my college counselor told me

We don't read by region, high school or major. Each folder is read at least two times and sometimes as many as 5-7 times. In cases when readers don't agree, the entire staff reads the application and votes (this is called "going to committee").

The admission officers don't admit off the waitlist, the Dean of Admission does. Of course, we advocate for some of our favorites. :)

Thanks, for the useful information Dean J. I'll definately keep that in mind :D.
