Can you serve u.s by joining maritime industry?is transporting goods or troops to other counries still serving your country?

I guess that depends on what you consider "serving your country".

Why are you posting this here?

If you want to stir up the USMMA people by your trolling, do it over there.

I heard that the Merchant Marine Academy allows it's seniors to choose a branch of service to become an officer in. So basically one could go to the USMMA and become an active duty Army Officer?

Army, or Navy, or Marine, or Air Force, or Coast Guard, or oh yeah, the Merchant Maritime. Oh, how about NOAA? As they say, they offer OPTIONS. I'm sure others will pipe in here about other options from the USMMA. I find it very interesting that the Supe is an Annapolis grad, The Comm is a USMMA grad, the Director of Admissions is a West Point grad, etc. Options, students, something to consider. You'll be exposed to a wide variety from which to choose.
