Still spots open?

Umich was a safety for me, and I sent everything in by early November, but only now realized I didn't send my SAT scores. I just rushed them, so hopefully everything will be processed by Mid-December. Just wondering, how many spots have been given away thus far? Is this too late in the process for them to accept me (cause I know a lot of people applied really early) even though it's a safety?

I’m sure they still have room, and you’ll probably get in. Although just FYI, a friend of mine applied late (although still later than you) and it was a “safety” for him with a 4.0 UW and a 34 ACT in-state, but he was deferred and ended up having to go and talk to the admissions people. It was this whole big process that took weeks. He eventually got in, but it took a while.

Although is UMich really a “safety” for anyone? Unless you applied really early, of course.

Was a safety, now a slight reach/reach. What are your stats?

It’s probably a match for you at this late date. U-M is rarely a safety, unless you have perfect scores,if you are from OOS.

99% of students from my school who apply to UMich with above a 90 average get in. I’ve got a 94. (100 pt scale). The only person I’ve ever known to not get in with above a 90 applied in January.

My school is insanely competitive, so a lot of colleges either like us/hate us cause they get so many applicants. UMich has always been really friendly towards us, so our college counselors always encourage us to apply.

Stats are 2270 SAT (730 R 740 M 800 W), 730 Lit SATII, 740 MathII SATII, 720 World History SATII, 94 average, 8 APs by graduation, captain of swim team, editor of school paper, etc. I have solid recs and good essays.

I just know it’s gotten more competitive, and so I was just checking to see if I’m at a more of a disadvantage applying this late in the game, which I guess I am.

I think you just answered your own question there, sport. ;)

You’re one of those “rare” cases.

Haha, thanks. I think I just had a mini-freakout this morning, but hopefully it’ll all turn out okay. I’m still applying to my other safeties, definitely, though.

Thanks for all your help! :)
