Still waiting for FA award?

Anyone else out there still waiting for Financial Aid Award? We've been checking the site, and still nothing. On hold with them right now..."unusually high call volume"....hmmmm. Guess others have the same question as we do?! :)

Yes, we have the same situation. She was accepted early and has a packet in hand, but it is not “final” until this one arrives via website. I have called twice (last week and yesterday) and they told me they are still putting them together for the students. My site claims missing information, but I have been assured twice this is not the case. FA tells me that it will be up soon (not today, I asked). So, we wait. Hope your packet works for you.

My daughter waiting as well. Her packet showed incomplete on the 27th saying they needed an additional document. I e-mailed it to them on Friday, and at first it still wasn’t cleared. I called and they cleared it while I was on the phone with them this past Monday. They said we would hear something by the end of this week. We’re still hoping for Merit since I know from other schools we are not eligible for Financial Aid. She was accepted EA. Keeping fingers crossed for some type of scholarship.

Yesterday we were told by Friday. Also got an email that said to keep checking, and it would be up soon.
Sigh. She wants to go to admitted day next Sat, but we really need to see that packet first, you know?! :)

Finally D FA award posted to the portal. Perhaps a good time to check your portal if you’re waiting on this!

Ours isn’t up yet. I called today and was told “a few days”. On Monday they told us “Friday” (tomorrow). Guess we just have to wait and see. She wants to go to admitted day next Sat, but not sure til we see that package.

Deep breathing! :)

My daugher’s not in there either. They said by end of week. We’re going to an admitted student day at another school this weekend including a hotel stay that we could cancel if we found out if she received Merit from Fordham which is her first choice. It would save us the trip! then again, she might end of liking this other school more. We did go to the Fordham EA admitted student day back in February, so either way I don’t think we would go back to Fordham next Saturday…The waiting is killing us too! This is the only school that hasn’t already offered Merit. I’m not counting on Financial Aid, so the Merit would be necessary. I’ll try deep breathing with you!

Still awaiting financial aid award…anyone else?

Still waiting. My daughter called today and they said up to 2 business days. So maybe by Tuesday?

Ugh! Hope it will be worth the wait for both.

We are still waiting as well. Hopefully Monday or Tuesday as she is planning on going to campus on Friday for a conference and attend a class. Need to see that package ASAP!

My son received the Deans Scholarship. We did not receive any need based financial aid. His total scholarship was $29,600 which I know is very generous. This would bring tuition, room and board costs down to $33,000. However, Providence offered him 80% tuition and it would cost $22,000 to attend there, all in. Do you all think appealing to Fordham for a little more comes across as greedy and ungrateful? A difference of $10,000 per year is a lot, though. I know he would get as good an education as Fordham in Providence, but he loves Fordham. What do you all think?

Is there a place where we must accept the scholarships or aid? For instance, if we do NOT want the available student loan, is there a place where our student declines that option. Also, with the scholarships, is there a place where our student must indicate that they accept the scholarship?
This late in the game, it would be horrible to misstep and forfeit a scholarship!

For those waiting, our daughter applied early action, got a likely letter, was accepted in Dec. and my husband filed our FASFA in early Feb. We did not get a request for an additional document until the very end of March and just recently got our final package with the scholarship (which we were notified of in December) stated. Slow process, but finally about there with it.

@Smpav90 Wow, that’s the exact amount I got offered. My family has also considered doing that, as $10,000 would really help to seal the deal. But, we are also unsure of what to do.

I just checked my portal and I had a message stating that in order for me to receive my financial aid package, I needed to visit their office and provide them with original proof of citizenship (green card, i’m a permanent resident). Now, i’ve already faxed them copies of both sides of my green card and under the Documents tab, it says they have it on file. I just find it completely ridiculous that they expect me to fly up to new york (from Florida) just to show them original proof of something they already have.

what if they don’t give me any financial aid? what if I fly up there to show them my green card and end up getting nothing? This is my biggest fear, and Fordham is my 2nd choice school (with Emerson College being at 1st right now because of excellent financial aid and scholarships).

Does anyone have any advice? please help :frowning:

To those asking about doing an appeal, here is my suggestion: If your child really, really wants to go Fordham, I say do it. My parents did it for me and we were given enough aid for me to attend. However, in case you do not know, when you appeal, they ask for every little detail of your financial life. Also, they take a while to make a decision. When my parents appealed last year, we literally did not get the decision until the National Response date (May 1). Also, it was not a fun week in my house since there was a lot of stress trying to file and find every single financial document. As I said, if your kid is dying to go to Fordham, do it. If not, take the higher offer.

@taben I can’t remember when, but I do know at some point on the financial aid part of the portal, another tab will show up. It is labeled ‘Accept Awards’. There, you have the option of accepting or declining the awards that are listed.

thanks for your input, I appreciate it. I’ll probably have to do the same as you.

also, I checked my portal again and under messages it now says Grant-in-Aid… does anyone know how much that could be? rough guess anyone? thanks

At least your portal is changing…hers has not changed at all. Beginning to feel a bit forgotten here. :frowning:

My daughter just received her award…22k in merit, and as expected the only FA was a 5500 stafford loan which would mean 27,500 off her total tuition with her taking the 5500 loan So yes, this is great news. This is very similar to other two scholarships but I really think Fordham is going to win out. good luck to you Mgm0909 and mexusa! I hope you get what you were hoping for and that you hear soon!

@VirginiaDare - is your daughter an Ailey dancer? we still haven’t seen anything, and nothing on the portal is changing for her.
