I was planning just to wait until I got a decision by mail, but I finally called the admissions office yesterday to get my UCI ID Number, and they said they couldn't give it to me unless I sent them a letter with my new e-mail. So now I'm just waiting for a letter that should have been sent to me last month. Worst part is this is likely my last resort. I applied to 6 schools and have 2 rejections (UCSB/UCD), 2 waitlists (Wisconsin and Washington), and am waiting on two more (UCI and Maryland). And I'd probly rather go to SBCC than Maryland anyways. I know one other person last year that got rejected everywhere. He went to Cal State Northridge with his application in June and got offered admission. That would just be really nervewrecking to do though and I don't want to put myself into that position.

You left out the best option of all if you don't get in anywhere: community college.

It is much easier to get into any UC, especially the ones you listed, by transferring from a California CC. UCSB, UCD, and UCI accept somewhere around 70% of CCC transfers.

Good luck!

Thanks. I've never wanted to go to a CC though. Not that I look down upon them cause some of my friends have gone that route the past couple years. I've just always wanted to get away from home and go through the whole college freshman experience. I know the ultimate goal is to get an education and a degree, but the social aspect is another huge part of it.

jwebb, I understand your position on this. However, you might want to carefully consider missing out on the "freshman experience" of two years of drinking games in return for admission to a world renowned UC and having your debt cut in half. But I do understand everyone must make their own decisions in life. Good luck in whatever you decide!

Thanks for the input. Money is the main reason I've wanted to go to the UC's over privates and OOS's (other than Wisconsin). But I just don't think I'd be happy staying at home for two more years and going to El Camino. If nothing else, I'd rather at least go to SBCC and live in the dorms there.

i also haven't received my official admissions letter. i was thinking that i would just submit my SIR anyway since it is taking so long. What is in the admissions letter?
