Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give me some details about living in Stonier? How clean/quiet/nice/etc. is it compared to the other College Ave dorms?

How low would you say the lottery numbers would be for it, as well, if you could give an approximation? Mine is in the 1600s.

Good question. The only thing I know about Stonier Hall ... individual bathrooms =)

Although that could be good for some, and bad for others -- having to clean the bathroom, other stuff I don't want to get into, etc. But I wish I could get that dorm, but my lottery # is in the 3000s so I don't have a freakin' chance.

I can't determine if your lottery number will give you a chance to get rooming there or not, but I say good luck! =)

Yeah, Stonier's appealing to me for the individual bathrooms bit. I don't mind cleaning up after myself -- my potential roommate and I are very clean people, and I think we'll clean up after ourselves before letting things get too nasty, haha. And I'm sorry. :(

Thank you! I REALLY hope I can get in. Been gettin' screwed over way too much by Housing this semester... Most of the cut-offs have been horrific!

Do you know of any nice dorms besides Stonier in College Ave? Just in case, haha.

is the lottery only for returning students?

i'm an incoming freshman and totally confused by this talk of lotteries haha.

don't worry about it khoa, you still have a year before you learn to hate rutgers housing lottery =)

This lottery thing does suck! Don't need to worry about it now Khoagland =)

Freshmen only have to worry about whether they will be placed on their first choice or not, while us upperclassmen have to worry if we will even get housing, especially those with numbers in 7,000+.

oh lawd.

does rutgers have an off-campus housing director? like someone who'll help you find a house near campus, or help get a deal as a student...Iona has something that, it sounds like a good idea, and my friends and i might get like to get a house sophomore year.

If you go on the website Rutgers University Off-Campus Housing Service they do provide you with information about off-campus housing. You can even go to the office for off-campus housing services on Busch Campus for more information. All is provided in the link above.

thanks, mushaboom!

I'm so nervous! Guys, if I don't get Stonier, which Hall should I put as my second choice?

My next choice would have been one of the other dorms in that whole "quad" area on College Avenue. But then I read that some are reserved for special interest topics (Demarest Hall; Mettler Hall), while others are for honors (Brett Hall), etc.

Hmm, I'm somewhat interested in Clothier. It used to be for mostly first-years, but I read that this year they had reserved it for upperclassmen. It's that high-rise building on the corner of George Street and Bishop Place.

Then there are the other "smaller" dorms near the quad there that are 3 stories high. Hegeman, Leupp, Pell, and Wessels.

Then lastly, the river dorms: Frelinghuysen, Hardenburgh, and Campbell.

For some reason, I'm looking towards the "smaller" dorms. Smaller group of people, less noise, easier to make friends. I just want to be on College Avenue, haha. Not because of the whole party thing either, but just because I will be closer to my classes (convenience is awesome).

Anyway, ifyourewondering, good luck! I hope you get your first choice =)

Thanks, MushaboomBlue. After talking to my roommate, I found out that she really wants Hardenburgh and Frelinghuysen to be our next choices after Stonier. I won't argue against that, lol -- she's the one with the lower number!

hate to break it to you but Stonier is one of the most popular dorms in the whole school.

unless you are an honors student the chances of you getting it as a transfer are slim to none...

getting college ave. as a transfer isnt even a guarantee...in fact you should be lucky if you do...

Hey does any upperclassmen (if you're out there) on here know how this "double" thing work?

So, if my number is eligible (it better, darn it) for the selection, should I have a list of dorms that I'm considering?

My first RU screw: Not eligible for housing. How the HELL is the cut off for selection @ 3093 (I'm 3765)? So how about all those kids who had 10,000 and didn't apply for apartments or suites? That's like 6,000 of us who will be stuck in hotels or off campus housing. ***?

Mushaboom Blue, same here. I think I remember talking to you over the summer haha
I have NO idea what I'm going to do. It's impossible to commute. I emailed the director of housing about it because it's ridiculous. I know they can't do anything but still. Ughhhhh
I really hope I find off campus housing or I have to take the semester off :(

oleosmirf, I'm not a transfer student... But either way, now that the eligible lottery numbers have been posted, I don't think I'll get Stonier. :/

And fadetoblack and MushaboomBlue, I'm really sorry that you guys couldn't get housing on-campus. Ugh. Rutgers REALLY messed up.

MushaboomBlue, I'm going to assume you're a girl...

Or really, any female who needs a roommate (and is studious): I have a friend who is looking for someone to be her roommate. Her lottery number was in the 1700s, so she's eligible for a double... her potential roommate is leaving her for an apartment, though.

Actually, never mind. My friend found someone. :/

Aww, thanks ifyourewondering. At least you're friend found a roommate, so good for her =)

Actually, I kind of don't mind the idea of living in a hotel now simply since my parents are allowing me to bring my car down to Rutgers next semester because they felt bad that I might be stuck in a Holiday Inn instead of a dorm, haha =)
