When will transfer students be notified whether they got accepted to stony brook or not for the spring semester? I submitted my application back in August and the anticipation of waiting is killing me ! I really want to go here and I hope I get accepted.

Hey there! I also applied for spring 2014 back in august and my application was completed in at the end of august. I intend on studying Biology with a minor in Dance, Marine Sciences and possibly anthropology with 40 credits under my belt currently. I have a 3.58 GPA overall and will have 55 credits after this semester with hopefully above a 3.6 GPA. i know, but unfortunately I think Stonybrook does not send out admissions decisions until the beginning of mid-november. So we will just have to wait it out By the way I will be coming out of state from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan! Wishing the best of luck for both of us! The proximity to New York City where I went to high school and my support system, plus the school’s reputation will probably make me love the school even more then now!

Hey all - looking at the inboxes, it looks like we haven’t started reading transfers yet. Probably within the next week or so.

Chris

Hey Chris, so does that mean that within the next week or so transfer students should be expecting an update on there admissions statuses @sbuadmissions

i think you have a really good chance to get in but thats just my opinion, Best luck to you though, hope we both get in! @Mcmlxixjoe

Yes, that’s the plan. They’ll probably go out around the end of next week.

Chris

Hey Chris,
When I logged on my solar it says new student deposit , housing and new tabs that weren’t there before ! Does that mean I got accepted !? @sbuadmissions

@ivyswan741 congrats!! It means you are accepted. What’s your GPa btw?

Omg my solar now says I got accepted ! !! Yay ! And I have a 3.8 gpa

Hey everyone, I also got accepted as well for the spring. And I was reading this article and it says that stony brook only accepts around 650 transfer students for the spring semester compared to 1,250 for the fall! So congrats! @ivyswan741 what is your major by the way and are you coming from in-state? Looking forward to getting involved in the out of state association as well!

Congratulations mcmlxixjoe for getting in ! I applied for the business management major and I am a in-state student . What’s your gpa if you don’t mind me asking!

3.58. I’m actually a new york resident still but had to go back to michigan for school due to some personal stuff going on. I actually just got jury duty last week in brooklyn but had to decline because i am still in school right now in michigan. hopefully though i will be able to get instate tuition again either in the spring or fall semester again! and I will be studying biology.

One of my friend just received her acceptance letter for spring '14. Her gpa is only a 3.1 and shes a sophomore

any freshman spring transfers recieving acceptances?

Stony brook only accepts roughly 44 % of transfer applicants or so I read. And compared to 1,250 admitted transfer students for the fall, stony brook only accepts around 650 transfer applicants for the spring. Which is significantly less. I know around like 5,000 transfer students usually apply from both semesters. Gonna pay my deposits tomorrow!
