Stony Brook Class of 2020

My S applied to several Suny and SB, so far he was accepted in Albany (with scholarship offer), Binghamton and Buffalo but waiting on SB. His idea is to major in Physics.
We received last week an email from SB for him to apply to LSAMP scholarship, which he will but nothing on acceptance.

I just got accepted to SBU. Decisions came out very quick. What is his top school?

Albany because of the scholarship. How did you get the acceptance by mail or email?

I was accepted by the SOLAR Portal. They didn’t send me an email, but when I randomly checked, there was a “New Students” folder and 12 hours later my letter of acceptance showed up. It also said that my official letter would arrive in the mail in roughly 2 weeks. I was also accepted to New Paltz, Farmingdale, and Albany (waiting to hear from Bing.), but Stony Brook seems to be a better fit for me because it’s a much stronger school for pre med/medicine and science. I am planning on attending as a psychology major with pre med courses.

Last Thursday I got an email that said my son’s admissions decision was available through SOLAR (not sure why the email didn’t go to him). After logging in, we could see a “New Students” folder, but no messages. His acceptance was in Admission Status link. Haven’t gotten anything via snail mail yet.

I applied December 23rd and I still havent gotten word yet. My aoi is mechanical enginerring w 1920 SAT 99gpa weighted. Has stony gotten more competitive now?

I am thinking its over us…we applied back end of Oct…We also received an invite to apply for a scholarship but noting on admittance…would be nice if we just knew something instead of letting this drag on…Congrats to everyone who did make it…!

@upsurp I also applied with mechanical engineering on dec 27… And still haven’t gotten reply yet… I have not seen anyone got accepted with ME yet aslo tho… Maybe it is just the major thing? hopefully…

My son applied back in early December. He still hasn’t heard back yet. Same with Bing.

Still haven’t received yet @HelloEveryone27 what are your stats?

I applied October 29 and was accepted to biomedical engineering on January 6. (34 ACT/4.0 unweighted) The letter came shortly after, maybe two weeks, but it does not include more information than what’s on your SOLAR.

Scholarships and special programs will not be announced until March. So those hoping Stony Brook is your fit but that they didn’t award you money, just wait until March before you decide on elsewhere.

For those of you wondering if it’s more competitive this year, a follow up email I received after my acceptance stated this: “This year, Stony Brook has received a record number of applications — more than 34,000 — for an entering class of just 2,800, making admission especially competitive!”

I applied December 10th and got accepted on January 15th. I checked my SOLAR and saw a “new student” folder, one day later i received an email said that my decision had been posted

(Major in computer science

@cheesehotpot what were your stats?

Same here. I applied the same time and still have not heard back yet. My friends have received acceptance letters, but they applied way before me. I guess it takes time.

Sat 2020 GPA 97.14 weighted

I applied on 12/11 and I got a confirmation email of my application on 12/18, but I still have not heard back from them. I’m worried that something went wrong because my friends who applied within a week or two after me got their acceptances already. My weighted GPA is 98.2 and SAT is a 1910.

I applied on the 5th and got confirmed on the 7th but still didn’t hear anything back either ACT 30 SAT 1910

^December fifth? I was looking through last year’s thread and apparently it has happened to other people. I think we just gotta wait.
