Stony Brook University Class of 2025 Discussion Thread

guess us bio majors j gotta wait a while, do u mind sharing ur stats? doesn’t need to be exact just general idea

I always mess this up but 93gpa, 3 APs ( 4s) 5 dual enrollment, everything honors & started a year ahead in math and Spanish, nhs, jv soccer 9-11, club soccer 6 years, Varsity track 10-12, Asl club ( president 12th), nys emr & emt,Jr Ambulance ( VP 12), 400 plus volunteer hours, GS bronze award, Summer job as a lifeguard at a local camp.
Didn’t submit sat score but got a 1280 ( low from what she was getting on practices…)

my ECs weren’t great, just soccer and track through HS, and teaching a math class on weekends for a few months. did AP bio psych and calc bc. not submitting scores but A+s throughout the year for all science and math classes after sophomore year and like a 3.9-4.0 gpa. 1420 SAT. i’m hoping the gpa and say will be enough because me ECs aren’t good

You have very good stats, I just think this year was super competitive. We’re not giving up hope yet & you shouldn’t either. Hopefully we’ll hear something in the next couple of weeks. Best of luck to you!!

From last year’s thread: SBU 2024 thread more people got accepted in late February and throughout March including several Bio major. In addition, Honors notification also came out early March. Hopefully they will use the same time frame this year.

Good luck !!!

I have similar traits especially the biology part. A couple people in my school got their rejection letters today. So I think they are weeding out the ones they don’t want and seeing whose left. Good luck to everyone. I’m so nervous, I have been checking my email every other minute. I think I’m safe for now. Right?

yeah i’ve been doing the same lol. i’m nervous too cuz my academics is good but ECs suck compared to everyone else i see.

Same here

Got an email today stating that I got into WISE!!

I am really curious to know how they choose which applications to pick up for a review. It appears as though the applications are not reviewed in the order they were received. If “first come, first served” is not the criteria, then what is?

Congrats !!!

WOW! Congratulations!!! Do you know if this is rolling too? I thought they release honors sometime in 1st week of March. Is it through email or on portal?

I thought that was also 1st week of March and is it rolling?

Update: I reached out to financial aid and was informed my son was awarded a Presidential Scholarship back in Dec! He either never received the email or accidentally deleted it. Whatever the case, they resent it to him. So glad I reached out.

R u in-state or oos?

Congrats on the presidential scholarship.

Congratulations. If you don’t mind, can you please share how much your son got in scholarship ?
We have not received any scholarship information yet.

We are OOS
