Stony Brook University Class of 2025 Discussion Thread

i asked my admissions counselor this and she said that it’s sent on a rolling basis and there is no one criteria that goes into the decision time.

I’m pretty sure it’s not first come, first server because I applied in mid Jan if I remember correctly.

Thanks!!

Thank you!!! I guess it’s rolling, I’m not sure though.
I got an email that contained a pdf attached to it!

How much money does that amount to over 4 years?
I received the “Global Excellence Scholarship” but it’s 5k a year and that’s considerably less

would scholarship awards show up on the solar portal?

I got into the WISE program yesterday! I actually really like stony brook and the scholarship I received was generous, but I’m still not sure we will be able to afford it.

Congrats and thanks!

I am just curious, are there any in-state computer science majors who have been accepted yet? I applied in November and still no decision, nothing is missing from my file and I spoke to admission counselors multiple times-only answer I keep getting is to wait. Yet it seems out of state and international applicants to comp sci major receive their decisions weeks after applying.

i’m applying for bio and mine says the same. applied late december.

Lets get started has just disappeared from the portal! What does it mean?

That means you’re gonna get your decision within a week ATB👍

Ahh, Hope it’s good news! Thank you

We’re in the same exact situation. I don’t know how they chose which applications to review, but though it is now obvious that it’s not done on a “first come, first served” basis, it is not completely sparadic either. Likely, there are “buckets” they are trying to fill: so many foreign students, so many OOS, and so many in-state.
My son goes to a well known competitive school in NYC and his stats are solid, yet here we are waiting since November.

My worry is: by the time they get to his application, will there even be any seats left? I guess, we’ll find out.
