Hi,
I got accepted to Stony Brook in early Jan but there was no info about the financial aid awarded. Does it mean I do not get any aid or do I need to deposit first then find out about the aid I am awarded?
I’m very confused right now. Thank you guys. Please help me.
Accepted back in January - 4.0 weighted GPA 32 - ACT w/ Writing and top 10% of my class. Although I think I’m on the higher end of admissions because the University Scholars email said something about the top 10% of admitted students.
@ggwpafk823 Yes, I just received the email last night about the University Scholars.
@phuonguyennguyen The financial aid page says that packages won’t be released until late March/early April. Which is in line with the rest of the schools I’ve gotten into Bing only sent me their package last week (it was awful so Stony Brook beats them out for me lol) only Cornell hasn’t sent me anything yet and that’s because I stupidly didn’t make sure to submit documents (they have a special IDOC thing – it’s mad annoying) on time, because I never though I would be accepted.
@CanIgoback no! We are hitting the road in a few minutes for a visit to Pitt Next weekend back to Northeastern. RPI and Rochester during spring break. Umass and stony brook some time in April. Hopefully things will become clearer by then. Still waiting on some financial info.
@Sapphire50 We are still undecided as well. No scholarship from Stonybrook yet, but my son has received scholarships at other equally ranked schools. We are going to visit UMass and Stonybrook as well. I think we’ll do one of the minuteman days at Mass. Enjoy your trip to Pitt!
@PhuongUyenNguyen I had been wondering the same thing but I just attended an accepted students day and they said that all scholarships and grants will be awarded on your SOLAR portal by the first week of April.
Hang in there, you guys!!! I hope everyone who still hasn’t heard back hears back by the end of this week! And it’s not April 01 yet so just have a little hope left. :+)
Btw, for those of you that are worried about financial aid awards, I emailed the Financial Aid Office and this is what they said: “Our office has received your FAFSA and your financial aid award package should be posted on SOLAR around March 27th.” So as everyone mentioned above, financial aid awards will be available around late March/early April.
@Sikhjatt Omg congrats friend!!! Fordham and Boston University are two GREAT schools and I applied to them, too. Today, I got my acceptance to Boston University as well so I’m hyped about that. But anyways, keep hanging in there! I’m sure you’ll hear back soon. Keep me updated amigo!
I still have yet to have heard from admissions on my portal… Still no new tabs, waiting on a decision. Does this mean I do not have a chance of being accepted?
Yeah, as far as I could tell final decisions for honors/scholars/etc were sent out by email today. I got that email also, was kind of upset that they wrote “I regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you a place in ONE of these programs” because that crappy grammar got my hopes up for a minute. Couldn’t they have written ANY instead?
@Sikhjatt I got accepted to Boston University’s College of General Studies January Boston-London Program. And yourself?
@Iac1997 Hang in there, pal! Don’t lose hope yet. Hopefully, you hear back by the end of this week.
@simuni@penguintables Gahhh, same here, guys. I just got the email saying I wasn’t accepted to University Scholars but you know what, it’s alright. We’ll live.
