I could go to Stony Brook for free, but I feel like Cornell is the better school with more opportunities? Is Cornell worth the debt?

Stony Brook has an awesome reputation especially for medicine. Save the money for med school-- then apply to Cornell :)

Please be aware that the Cornell med school is much harder to get into than Cornell UG due to its desirable location (among others). Actually, any med schools in a large city on north east coast or west coast are hard to get into. Compared to UG college, the med schools are more like real estate: location, location, loaction! The reason may be that the med school students are on a different stage of their lives. (Maybe residency programs are even more so.)

BTW, I happen to know a student who was from stony brook (UG) and then went to tufts med school. It appears he is in wustl for his fellowship now. (maybe for his residency also. but not very sure here.)
