Well, I got into both colleges' respective schools of engineering, but I honestly can't decide between either. Both are great schools. So anyone knowwhich has a better school of engineering and for dciences in general ?

Bing has 6 ABET accredited engineering programs. [Accredited Programs details](http://main.abet.org/aps/AccreditedProgramsDetails.aspx?OrganizationID=58)
Stony has 7 and there are some differences. [Accredited Programs details](http://main.abet.org/aps/AccreditedProgramsDetails.aspx?OrganizationID=60)

My son was accepted to all engineering schools he applied to. He loved Binghamton when he visited. We spoke with a graduating senior from our town who told us not to go there for Engineering. Poor engineering dept and poor math dept. (He was a business major and loved the school and did very well, so I know he was honest with us.)

Bing vs SB, SB for sure. They excell in science and math.

Well, he may have intended to tell you the truth, but as a B major, how would he really know? I think taking the advice from a student who majored in an unrelated major sounds suspect.

Anyway…Bing’s Engineering program is ranked within the top 100…that’s quite good and nothing to be concerned about.

Engineering ranking (differs from overall school ranking as some school generally have better depts than others…)

Ranking:
University Buffalo. Engineering founded 1946, Ranked 54
Stony Brook. Engineering founded 1960, Ranked 56
Binghamton. Engineering founded 1983, Ranked 119

visit each school and see for yourself. Check out the labs. On campus engineering CS fairs for internships, etc.

I know that Eng’g rankings differ from school rankings.

According to US News, Bing’s Eng’g is ranked within the top 100

Binghamton - Undergraduate Engineering - #95

I think you’re quoting the GRAD eng’g programs, not the undergrad.

ah… Correct you are!

Regardless, the OP needs to visit both and see what is going on in the labs, etc. Bing just doesn’t have the Wow factor the two other schools do in regard to the sciences. I’d just like to suggest he/she also make sure they help with getting internships and have a decent recruitment fair or similar at any school he/she is attending.
