storage facilities with rentals for only 1 month??

Starting at FSU this summer for summer C which ends August 2. Moving back for fall around August 18th. Do you know if any storage places rent for only a month? I really dont want to drive everything back home for such a short time. thanks!

I’m pretty sure that all of them do? I used Sentry Self-Services Storage for like 3 or 4 months, but I’m pretty sure they would do one month too.

Are you living on campus both in the Summer and Fall?

If you are, you can get into contact with the building you will live in during the Fall semester, and see if they still have storage space available. They may also let you move your things into the room early.

sorry that i forgot to mention that i will be in the dorms both summer and fall. Im assuming that i wont have the same dorm for both sessions. thanks for your help and for the recommendation for Sentry. I guess i will try and figure everything out once i know which dorms i am assigned to.

I you go to the FSU UPS store they will store your items between semesters. My son has used it twice now and he really likes it. They even gave him a discount for the summer rate since he was only storing between summer c semester and fall. They have differet packages depending on the amount of things you need to store. After you pick the package they will deliver the boxes to your room with tape, and storage stickers. Then at the agreed time the will pick up the boxes from the room and then deliver them back to the room at the agreed delivery date. They also have pricing for odd items like microwares, etc…

Even if you aren’t in the same dorm for each semester, they may let you store stuff in there if they still have room. Like I said, just get into contact with the building you will be living in during the Fall, and ask. It won’t hurt. I know that freshmen have not gotten their room assignments for Fall yet, but once you know where you will be living, you can contact the head staff at the building (they’re listed on the Housing website).

Keep in mind though, you won’t be able to move into your dorm room until August 21, unless you are rushing or something. You’ll need storage for about 3 weeks.

UPS is great, because it’s on campus, but holy cow are some of those prices insane. $40 to store a microwave? And I’ll be honest, the staff at the UPS store on campus aren’t exactly the most intelligent people on campus. You’d be better off storing it in the dorm building (for free, I believe) compared to how much UPS gouges you. Heck, most storage units for a month would have to be significantly cheaper than UPS.

Getting storage is almost impossible during this time at local storage areas. Last summer my roommate wanted to do the same thing as you and spent the entire summer looking around for a storage unit for her stuff and found one up in Thomasville last minute. She called one nearby place and we got there the same day and they said they sold the space to someone else between the time she talked to him and arriving at their offices…which was like less than 20 min…it’s ridiculous. Good luck on your search.

Most, if not all of traditional self-storage facilities will allow you to rent for just one month. However, the rent is not based on just a 30-31 day basis, it goes off of when you moved in.

For example if you move-in in the middle of a month and stay until the middle of the following month, even though you were only there for 30ish days you still will get charged for being there two months – my roommates and I got screwed on this last year. They will prorate the rent for you so you dont have to pay the first month right away, but you will get charged double before its all said and done. You might could try calling ahead and telling them your situation to see if they wil accommodate you, but that is the experience I had with that situation.

I dont know what facilities in the area would be best to contact but here is a link to a good resource: [Compare Self Storage Rates in Tallahassee, FL - SelfStorage.com](20 Cheap Storage Units in Tallahassee, FL (from $21)). Hope everything works out for ya.
