What kind of stores are there around UCLA? Is there a Target or something, so we can buy more stuff after we move in? Thanks!

There isn't a Target around...

There are some boutique-type shops. Novelty clothing. Victoria's Secret. Bebe. American Apparel.

You can take SM-8 or SM-12 to Westwood & Pico and go to Westside Pavilion - Macy's, other stores...

If you continue, you can keep taking SM-8 and go towards Sawtelle & National. Olympic and something is Bed, Bath, and Beyond. http://www.mta.net for bus routes & transfers

yeah, the target is a while aways (don't remember where exactly). If you're coming from the South, I remember there being an Ikea on the way from Irvine to UCLA. And if not, online shopping is your friend.

just bring a car, buy a car here, or make friends with someone with a car

I don't go to UCLA (going to apply) but I was on my way towards Hollywood Forever Cemetery (because it's cool) on Santa Monica Blvd. and saw a Target situated on an upstairs level. It had two spinning target emblems.

ALSO, you can use this:

there are targets in WeHo and Culver City. I prefer the weho store but i tend to prefer everything in weho to culver city. regardless both stores are anywhere from 15-25 minutes away depending on traffic.

Do you mean the Target in La Brea/Santa Monica? It's too far from UCLA.

nah its really not. i wouldnt necessarily recommend it for someone running around on move in day in a hurry but it's certainly not too far for occasional errands. i tend to prefer to go beyond westwood in general though. which means i drive a lot. which means la brea and santa monica doesn't seem terribly far at all in my realm.

heck, i went to the target in culver city. now THAT's far (by bus, anyways)

does anyone know of any sporting goods stores? where i came from there are stores called Academy, but i dont think there is one in CA.

just wanna make sure i got a place to restring my racquet...w/o shipping it to Prince Headquarters.

theres a big 5 on wilshire and san vincente...about 10 min from campus

really? hahha I wish I had known that earlier. As for racquet stringing, ask around campus. I know plenty of my friends strung their own racquets (back at home), i'm sure somebody brought their stringer.

that really helped, deuces, thanks alot

sarcasm

are there sam's club or costco nearby?

Whaa, no Target nearby? Haha, I guess that's okay...although coming from the suburbs, where there are 3 Targets within a 5.0 mile radius, this is quite a shock :) Where else can we go to buy "essentials"? (like hygiene products, school supplies, etc.)

btw i remember seeing a CVS pharmacy @ westwood. i don't remember the street tho. it's really close.

Yeah its just south of south campus. Not too far. I believe that was a CVS, or was it a Rite Aid?

CVS is on weyburn. a block south from the southern edge of campus.

there was a longs on top of ralphs, but it closed. not sure whats replacing it, but its been under construction.

there arent any department stores in walking distance, but theres a ralphs, whole foods, rite aid, CVS and the market in ackerman union where you can get food/toiletries.

for clothes/shoes theres an urban outfitters, american apparel, bebe, active skate shop, LIDs (hats), DSW shoes, some small boutique shops and of course bear wear, fast track and shoe city 2.0 in ackerman.

for electronics/games theres best buy, radio shack, EB games and computer store in ackerman.
