hey whats up i’m in wharton 2011… i know i want to be in the quad so i put that as my top 3 choices but what about after that? I am turned off by the small rooms and gross bathrooms and no AC? at hill but stouffer seems to give off an anti-social anti-freshman vibe. I definitly wanna be around a lot of freshman but dont want to have a horrible room. What are the pros and cons of stouffer and hill for a guy who likes to have a good time but wants a comfortable living space as well? (also I heard gregory is mostly awkward people is that true)

I stayed in Hill when I visited and it definitely isn't a looker, but I'm putting it for my 4th choice (after the quad) because I wouldn't mind spending a year there. Ultimately, the social atmosphere is going to be more important to me than how nice my room is, and Hill definitely has a great social life. I think you should put Hill 4th if you're looking for the same thing. I think of Stouffer as a more quiet dorm.

i'd say hill over stouffer...

it's just that much more social...

and bring a fan and you'll be just fine.

As someone who has lived in both:

DEFINITELY. STOUFFER.

Hill is a bustling social-joint, but Stouffer is too -- you just have to freaking get out of your dorm room. Hill is simply too torturous to live in. Stouffer's much higher-quality.

legend- would you say that stouffer is as social for freshman as it is for upperclassmen, i mean i'm assuming you lived in stouffer after your freshman year. what would you recommend to put higher as an incoming freshman

Yes, it is social for everyone

other people have told me that no one in stouffer ever hangs out in the lounges or keeps their door open so its hard to really meet people whereas in hill since the rooms are so tiny no one hangs out in them and everyone hangs out in the common are. ugh this housing thing is annoying i really just wanna be in the quad

the only thing attractive about Hill is that they have their own dining hall.

yes, I live in Stouffer...people hang out in the lounges all the time. I love living in Stouffer because it is quiet when I need to study. However, it's not my cup of tea for social life. If you are a student who doesn't mind that people are ALWAYS in your room then I'd recommend Hill. On the other hand, if you are like me and would like to go to a party then return to a nice, peaceful place, then I'd recommend Stouffer.

Yeah Stouffer is a pretty peaceful place to return to. But I still strongly disagree with the notion that it's not a social place. I'm always out of my dorm room and so are my friends here. Then again we're probably one of the more social groups in Stouffer. We're always in each other's rooms or hanging out or checking out other events on campus.

Looking around, it's generally a pretty quiet place. It's really what you make of it. Hill kinda encourages people to be supersocial... it practically rains people. But, I hated Hill because I had a roommate. Not anything against him, but I needed a break sometimes and having people around me constantly made it hard to get any privacy (especially hard if you have a girlfriend).

If you live in Hill, get a single. You'll have more room and you will still be surrounded by people, but you can still maintain privacy when you want it. I think this is why I really didn't like Hill -- I was always forced to deal with people even when I didn't want to.

Stouffer's a great place, and yeah, there are some weird people sometimes, but I don't really see those kind of people too often. There are much worse in Hill (memories of people shaving their heads on the bathroom floors and taking dumps in the lounge come to mind, no joke).

I prefer Stouffer over Hill because I can have a much, MUCH better room, a more convenient location on campus (especially for those in Wharton, you're super close to Steinberg-Dietrich, Huntsman, Wawa, Mayer, the Quad, the frat row, the High Rises, Logan Hall, College Hall, etc). Hill's convenient for most engineers and many College students.

I'd say the main difference in terms of social life at Hill versus Stouffer, is that Hill is social no matter what, and Stouffer is a place where you can be social if you want to be.

i'd say hill... coz of its social life, which is very imp in freshman yr.. coz u need to meet more ppl n builds ur frds..! but only that ive heard hill is far from the whaton buildings..!

don't live in hill, its awful. Stouffer is so much nicer by far, and its definitely still social.

anyone who tells u stouffer is crazy. i am very lucky i didnt get it. last yr i put top 3 quad, then stouffer, then hill
i got hill
i dont know ANY freshmen that live in stouffer. and hill is awesome. the rooms are small (although some rooms in the quad are just as bad (singles mostly))but trust me the atmosphere is great. ac isnt even a problem that occurred, me and my roomie both had fans. made a lotta tight friends from hill. its the way to go

the bottom line is that if you are not anti-social / prone to bouts of hermitic behavior, neither stouffer nor hill will be a huge disappointment, regardless of school (unless you're an a/c addict)
