Straight Med Program?

<p>I guess you mean the program where they offer you contingent acceptance to the WashU med school? That’s a ridiculously competitive program that usually accepts about 5-7 students each year. There’s no way to chance that, you’ll just have to write a kickass essay and really shine in the application process, and then make a killer interview at Finalists Weekend.</p>

<p>I don’t know too much about the “straight med program” you mentioned, but doing Pre-med in Wash U would definitely give you a decent chance at med schools. Also you should definitely explain the situation affecting your grades to the schools that you apply to - through essays or recommendations, or ask your high school to attach an explanation to your transcript, maybe? Another option is to do so in the Additional Information on Common Application.</p>
