Straight to the point: how bad is one D?

hey everyone, this has kind of been bugging me, so I'll just come right out and ask my question and if i could get some HONEST responses that would be great!

so, exactly how much does one D on a high school transcript affect college admissions chances at schools like yale? i did absolutely terrible in this one math class (i HATE math) junior year even though i am in the top 6% of my class at a very large high school, i have taken numerous AP classes and gotten A's in those, as well as most of my other classes (3 B's due to french, AP english). other than that, i have very very good extracurriculars, am an intl. student (IB diploma candidate seeking no financial aid), should do well on essays and recommendations, half a minority (not sure if that counts haha), and my sat score is 2250. My IB grades have also been high and i currently have a 7 in my math class.

thanks for the honest help and i appreciate it! ill be glad to return the favor!

oh and i forgot to mention, that i'll be graduating HS with 5 years on my transcript. i decided to take IB after my junior year because i moved to a new school and they wouldn't let me graduate unless i completed the diploma. i know, bummer.

thanks agaiN!

it's one D for one semester. during the first semester i got an 80 something. i think it was an 82. it was an honors class however, so it got bumped to a 92 weighted. overall my weighted is at 4.5

this was at my old school. we have a very good reputation with colleges and yes it was a very hard school, one of the best in the state. however, most students stay in state and i think there's only been one person to ever go to yale, but i didn't know them so i don't know their grades.

Yale is incredibly difficult for everybody, even those with perfect transcripts. It's not going to help, but it shouldn't stop you from applying.

ok, yea, i'll definitely still apply just for the heck of it!
