Strength of CSOM and Recruiting

I am a prospective student who will most likely be committing to BC in the coming weeks. I know CSOM is well regarded and usually as a “semi target” for investment banking. Can any current or past students share their experiences with internships and job offers at BC? I’m not focused on IB only either, so any major and any career path experience is welcome. What exactly is the career preparation like at BC? I’d love to hear from the students themselves here rather than searching up arbitrary rankings for how good BC is. Thanks!

It’s great. I’ve had strong experiences, but I went and kept to the IB route, which is much more standardized. I’ll speak more to that track, as it’s the one I went through. Sidenote: our career center is pretty decent overall; good advising, nice people, solid advice and offerings.

BC is a top recruited school to 3 of the 9 bulge brackets and, in total, gets on-campus recruiting and info sessions from 7-8 of them. Our best banks relationship-wise are Deutsche Bank, Citi, and UBS. We have a club called IBST (investment banking-sales and trading) which utilizes the experience of seniors (and juniors as well, as of this year) who have had past internships to essentially serve as personal mentors to you and your peers, to get them as well-prepared as possible for the recruitment process. There is a caveat that you do have to apply to be a mentee. As of this year on the IB side of the club, we had about 124 resumes submitted for 36 spots, with 6 junior mentors and 6 senior mentors. However, if you get the spot, its amazingly helpful. When I was in the mentee class, among the 38 of us, 26 will be on wall street, with 3 in top consulting firms and the other 9 pursuing other options. 14 of those 26 got into bulge brackets. This is all club-specific data, and there are others who were not taken is as mentees who got jobs under their own fruition. That said, I would definitely advise that you apply as a sophomore to be a mentee, should you choose to go here. The impact is incomparable and I’d attribute nearly my entire potential career trajectory to that club.
