I obviously understand UF considers the rigor of secondary school schedule. My intention was to say that UF values course quality over quantity.

Just because you fill your schedule up with easy classes such as “World Cultures” and go over the 31 benchmark, you shouldn’t consider that advantageous.

Given that only 225 of those who applied had these amount of courses you could infer that these courses were likely AP, IB, or Dual Enrollment.

UF doesn’t care if you pad your schedule with easy core classes.

I’m not going to waste my time counting courses under the imaginary pretense that the number 31 makes a difference and neither should you.

But than how could anyone ever got a high number? I have 8 class periods, and even if I had an academic class in every single one, that would still only add up to 24 academic classes. I smell a rat.

Dabigdawg: I didn’t pad my schedule. World cultures is the required social studies class as a freshman. The next year I took AP US history and got a 5 on the test. I am currently in IB HL history (exam tomorrow! yay!), as well as the rest of the IB Diploma prgram.

To illustrate: Sophmore and Junior year ( again, only using my academic classes; I took more.)

Sophmore: (hardest possible classes I was allowed to take as a sophmore)
AP US History: 2 semesters
Honors Chemistry: 2 semesters
Honors Geometry: 2 semesters
Honors American Literature: 2 semesters
Spanish 5/6: 2 semesters

Junior year: (this is when I started the IB Diploma programme, it gets fun here!)
IB HL History: 2 semesters
IB HL/AP Biology: 2 semesters
IB HL English: 2 semesters
Honors Physics: 2 semseters
Honors Spanish 7/8: 2 semesters
Honors Algebra 3/4: 2 semesters
Government: 2 semesters

Congratulations, you have an above average schedule.

Are you overcompensating for low test scores?

No, I got a 31 on the ACT…(33 superscore, if UF does that)

i dont understand why this causes conflict.

Hmm…on the common app box…i have the most demanding check box checked …is that not enough. god this is so frustrating…at my school you take 5 academic classes a year…that’s the max…what am i goign to do?

really? thats whack. make sure you mention and explain that where it asks for other considerations.

also, common app box? i dont see any question asking how demanding your schedule is on the UF application.

sorry i was talking about the common application…counselor rec form… ill write it in the other considerations…my residency is in florida.but i go to school in new england…this is going to be an experience.

uf doesn’t do common app
i’m confused

yeah sorry. i was talking about at my school on teh common app recommendation my courseload is seen as the most demanding. im sorry to confuse people. i know uf doesn’t do the common app.
