Stressed about English grade...

Hello. I am a junior from NJ and like everyone here, I'm very stressed about maintaining my grades this year, especially in English. I have worked my butt off to keep a 97 average for the first half of the class (my school uses block scheduling), but I got a 70 on one really really hard test (the only test my teacher has given us), so my average is now 89. I know in college this is common, but not within the limits of my school. This seems very unfair to me. Does anyone have any suggestions for me as to what to do to help this situation? I am freaking out, especially because I worked so hard only to receive one bad grade that ruined it (the whole class received under 80s except for one 84 and one 89). Please help!

You are mad because you have an average of an 89? Just get a 91+ next semester and do well on the final and you should have an A/A- average.

I know a B+ is bad, it is for me too, but I guess we should get used to it. I have two B+s this term. Gladly, I have a whole year to bring up those two grades, and so do you.

On another note, I ended freshman english with a B+ and now, in sophomore english, I have an A. Its just the teacher and how they grade that determines the grade.

Give it time and relax and you grades should go up.

@livelaugh7 I guess you’re right…it’s just annoying! I wish it didn’t bring me down as much though…

@CCPkrazy‌ I was furious in English class freshman year because my teacher treated our class like her AP Lit class. Not a single student got an A- even in her class. I was outraged and it brought me down and I started doing worse in all my classes, not just English. My Algebra 2 and Geometry grades dropped to a B until at the end of the the third term I realized I had to stop stressing.

This term, after I got my grades back, it brought me down. But I’m giving myself the weekend to be mad at myself and outraged etc. Now though, we have a fresh start. Clean slate.

The test that killed my grade has been called an AP test before…also, I’ve heard nobody has received a 95 or higher in her class and now I understand why …
