Pink, do you know what Piccolo is like (I’m a transfer)? Thanks.

Arriving for freshman orientation on Aug 18. Is shipping to the UPS location on campus a good way to get things there without having to bring them in the car? Are there any problems using this approach?

We did this for some of D’s stuff freshman year. Worked like a charm. I believe you can either pay extra to have the stuff brought directly to your room (when you’re there) or pick things up yourself at the store.

any info on club golf?

how competetive is it? what do u need to shoot to play/

and do i need to bring clubs down if interested right away at move in??
thanks

what dorms do transfer students usually live in? I got assigned to Piccolo is it worth trying to get out of as junior transfer student?

Stupid question: Is the webcam on the laptop compatible with Skype?

Yes, the webcam is compatible with skype.

“Stupid question: Is the webcam on the laptop compatible with Skype?”

Yup!

Some people on my floor had some issues with their computers & Skype (one being me, although now my computer likes Skype). I used ooVoo for the first semester.

This is hard to say since Piccolo & Palmer are newly-converted upperclassmen dorms. They’re definitely not a bad place to be, although most returning students were a little bummed about being assigned there (mostly because of location though). As a transfer student I would think that this situation would actually be good, because the housing situation forces you to interact with other students, as opposed to other housing situations, where there is less of a “common area”.

I would recommend looking through pictures of it on the Wake website. I haven’t actually been inside of Piccolo though, sorry.

I don’t think that this is a bad idea, but unfortunately I haven’t needed to have large quantities of stuff shipped to campus. I hope someone else can answer this question :)

I know a girl who was on club golf – she brought her clubs down right away & kept them in her room. Otherwise I don’t know too much about it, but I know that you definitely travel a bit for it. I would advise you to email someone at the school for more information about it.

Are the various professor ratings sites a good method for incoming freshman to evaluate and choose courses?

“Are the various professor ratings sites a good method for incoming freshman to evaluate and choose courses?”

They’re a good starting point. Each professor is compatible with different types of students, so a professor with bad ratings might actually be good for you and a professor with good ratings might actually be a bad match for you. However, most professors with good ratings tend to be liked by the majority of students. I would definitely keep ratings in mind while choosing classes, but I wouldn’t be OVERLY concerned with them.

is a loft good for someone living in Piccolo Hall?

“is a loft good for someone living in Piccolo Hall?”

A loft is never a bad thing so long as you’re comfortable sleeping up there. It gives you a lot more floor room.

how many credits are required to graduate a year early? other schools specifically state the number of credits or courses(example(BC) 8 courses)). what general area do interns work in? and i know this has probably been answered, but whats the quickest way by plane to get to wfu, like which airport? thanks

You have to have 120 hours to graduate.

Greensboro is the closest airport (~40 mins away), but it’s probably cheaper to fly into Charlotte or Raleigh, both of which are about 1.5 hours away.

I would notttt recommend graduating a year early. You’ll completely stress yourself out taking all your divisionals, major/minor classes, etc and you probably won’t have time to sleep/eat/function, and you’d probably have to be at Wake all three summers. Unless you come in with legitimately 1000 million credits, I would not recommend this.

Plus I think there’s something to be said about spending all four years at college. It’s the college experience and you’ll probably love Wake and never want to leave anyway.

Greensboro is an awesome airport. It’s so quiet and easy to navigate. Greensboro sends lots of flights to (the airport nearest to where I live), but it doesn’t send flights everywhere. Connecting a flight to Charlotte is probably the way to go; I feel like a lot of people do this.

I suppose most interns work in the city of Winston-Salem but I feel like more people intern over the summer instead. Some business programs let you intern at various times and in various places, so I’d look into this if it’s something that interests you.

(BC - 8 courses? 8 courses what?)

^BC specifies that a high enough score on a total of 8 courses will pardon you from a year. other schools say just reach x credits. wfu doesnt list anything. the credits only get you out of gen ed and core requirements i think.
