Hey. I just started looking into Duke and it sounds like a great school. However, I heard in a video I recently saw something that was rather troublesome. So, I decided to ask students on here what they thought (since the video seems to be a little outdated).

The video said that there was a lot of self-segregation at Duke, by socioeconomic class, race, frats/sororities, etc. Is this at all true? Is the social scene dominated by frats and sororities? If so, what effect, if any, does this have on student life?

anyone? (10 chars)

Nah, I wouldn't say that. Duke is really diverse with so many different people. It's just that Greek life has a heavy influence at Duke so there might be that perception. HOwever, there are lots of friendly people there, regardless of socioeconomic class, race, views, etc. I would say like around 40-45% of Duke is in either a frat/sorority or selective living group. The big parties are almost always hosted by frats or living groups. Of course, there are always gonna be some asses and stuck up people but that's everywhere you go. Overall, Duke has lots to offer, academically and socially.
