<p>Alright, so this may not be appropriate but I’m going to say it anyways: unless you like student council and are willing to do something with your presidency then please don’t even run. Everyone on this site is obsessed with what activity and what leadership role will make their applications stand out, well here’s the answer: one that you are passionate about.
I am running for president of my student body/council this year because it has been a dream of mine since elementary school and I want to help my class make a difference.
Honestly, being president might bump up your application a little bit but I’d you’re applying to an ivy or an elite school, just remember that there are going to be dozens of other applicants that were also their student council presidents and actually achieved things and loved it.</p>
<p>Short version: Maybe, yes, but do things because you want to not because of an application.</p>
