I'm pretty sure that I'm going to USC next year! Yay! I'm interested in getting involved in student government. I did student government in high school, but I've heard that it is very different in college. What does the student government at USC do? Also how hard is it to get involved?
Thanks :)

While I’m not in student government myself, I am friends with a few people who are. It’s definitely a lot more serious and professional than college, but that’s not to say that it isn’t fun. It’s also really simple to get involved! For example, there’s the Freshman Council, which “acts as an entry-level organization within Student Government. Members consist of a diverse selection of students who undergo a fairly rigorous interview and application process and are chosen to represent the freshman class in Student Government.”
You should check out the student government website ([Student Government | Student Government](<a href=“Student Government - Leadership and Service Center | University of South Carolina”>Student Government - Leadership and Service Center | University of South Carolina)). Also, there’s an organization fair at the beginning of each semester where all of the organizations around campus set up tables on Greene Street to recruit new members. Student government always has a booth, and if you decide that it’s not for you, there are a wide variety of leadership positions within every organization.
