Student Life at Hood College in Maryland

Does anyone have any feedback on this small LAC in Frederick, MD?

I’ve been on the Hood campus and it’s very nice. I did know one young man who went there. He transferred to UMD and then he transferred back because he liked Hood better. He now works in a Congressional Office somewhere in DC

Thanks a lot for responding - I appreciate it. There isn’t much of a ‘Hood’ presence on this site.

Hi there! I’m currently a junior at Hood so I can give you some insider info on life here. There are quite a lot of student organizations, though many of them are service-based. I’m in the QSU and Blazer Radio. Campus itself is small and pretty boring (don’t expect parties, like, ever) but the surrounding area is interesting. Last week I went hiking at Catoctin, went ice skating, and had lunch downtown. A lot of attractions require a car to get there but currently there is no shortage of students who have vehicles. In fact, parking is a major issue. Not sure how that will change next year when they stop allowing freshmen to have cars.

Let me know if you have any questions! I’m a school ambassador and I’m happy to give you more info.

My D goes to Hood and loves it. She transferred from a bigger school. It’s a beautiful campus, near downtown Frederick, and she loves the campus activities. In addition, her professors know her by name, not like the number she was at the larger university.
