student loan repayment

I been in school full time the past few years and have taken out a few stafford loans. I had to take off the this spring semester (spring 2013) because my mother had surgery and I had a death in the family.

I decided to transfer to another university for the fall 2013 semester. So I am unable to enroll in school for the summer 2013 semester. This means that by June it would be 6 months since I was in school and I would have to start repaying my student loan.

Since I will be back in school full time in August (just a 2 month difference) do I have any options of deferring my loan payments? Will they stop charging me since I will be back in school full time? If I dont pay will this hurt my chance of receiving financial aid this fall? I already have everything set up at my new school so Im not sure if it will some how screw things up. Please help!

Contact your loan servicer. You could probably qualify for a forbearance.

Your loan servicer will be able to give you guidance. They get this question all the time. The important thing is to contact them and find out what to do … don’t let it go.
