Now that the drop/add period has ended, when can students expect to have their “leftover” funds? My son has rent due for his Gainesville apartment on the first of the month and we’d hoped that he’d have his money by then.
Thanks

My daughter is at Santa Fe and I had this conversation with the financial aid office about this. They said it won’t be until the end of September and possible early October for Santa Fe. UF may be different so I would suggest calling UF Financial Aid and asking. Seems like a complex and a bit convoluted system, unfortunately.
Looking back at the last 4 years (Fall 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017) Bright futures paid out between August 30 to Sept 3rd. Federal Direct loans usually on the same day, or a day earlier. Florida Prepaid is billed before the semester starts.
I expect Bright Futures to pay out today or next Tuesday/Wednesday. The latest would be next Friday, based on past history.
In the Spring, BF paid out between 1/12 and 1/15.
@GatorDad305 Unfortunately UF financial aid office is impossible to get a hold of. We’ve taken a Parent Direct Loan and all of a sudden today, it is no longer showing up on my son’s Financial Aid summary. I’ve been trying to call them and you just can’t get through and it’ll usually take several days foe them to respond to an email.
I see that Bright Futures has disbursed for my daughter. Still waiting on additional scholarship, though.
Yesterday, DS and DD both got their Bright Futures, so 8/31 this year…
@livingis2me Last week the building hold the Financial Aid department was flooded, so they temporary moved to a different building. They should be back by now and easier to reach.
