Student Status

Hello, Thank you for reading my post. I'm not sure if this is the right section, so apologies in advance.

I have questions regarding student status once admitted.

Will it be possible to get admitted to the semester and not register and stay in the school's student status? or If I do not

register I'll lose the status of a student in that school?

Also another option is once admitted and I'll be registering courses and within a week and drop all the courses, would

this be possible and maintain student status?

The deal is that I'm currently on enlistment process with local national guard, and am intending to take both bct and ait.

Depending on my mos, I'll either comeback late summer (August) or late September. The late summer one is my priority mos, but with circumstances like changing the unit station or even not coming back on august can be an issue for me. I have not yet applied to the schools I want to attend, but if above options will work than I'll be doing the transfer process once I signup for the army. And that will be this Friday.

You guys could say that I can just wait and apply for the spring semester, but there is a chance that I may not get admitted on Fall and spring. I'm considering applying both semesters just to try out.

So again, is it possible to maintain student status after the admission, and not registering for classes? so that if things doesn't work out, I can safely attend the school the next semester without worrying about admission process and all.

Post became really unclear than my intention, sorry for that. Anyways thank you for reading and thank you for any other advice. :)

Your questions are best answered by your specific college. One can imagine each may have its own rules. Posing your question here will get you snippets and guesses – none which have utility to you. Make the telephone call. You seem to be speaking of a deferment – which is quite common.

Call the school and ask about a deferred enrollment. thank you for your service to the country.

Follow up-
So I’ve just came back from MEPS, and I need medical waiver for my vision. Even if I get approved I found out that I won’t be able to attend Fall semester.
So here is the question. Would it be dumb for me to still apply for the Fall semester? Just to try out. It might be possible that I might not get in but can apply again for the spring, or ask for deferment. I think it is better as I’ll have twice the chance to apply than just relying on one. What do you guys think?
