Students Applying for Spring 2010 Transfer

Hello!

This thread is for students applying for the Spring 2010 semester. Feel free to post any of your statuses and how the app is going

Any idea on what they are looking for?
I’m a second-semester freshman, but i had a very strong high school record.

Foreign language, math, and 2 science courses seem to be the most important (in addition to the liberal arts core).

Also, make sure your SAT scores are good. Since you are a freshman, you wont have earned over 24 college credits yet to get your SAT scores waived

Hope this helps!

Hmm, yes my SAT grades weren’t that great, so I’m a bit worried. However,
my high school transcript was pretty strong, since I was on a 3 year academic graduation plan where i could only take academic courses and no electives including 10 AP classes with a 3.5 unweighted at least…and along that i have lots of extra curricular activities and volunteering. my ranking was 17 out 556 students from my graduating class. I started college during the summer semester with US History and World Religions and now I am currently taking BIO I with lab, Pre-Calc, Social Psychology, and Intro to Communications. My Mid-year report showed all A’s, do you think I still have a chance, or do SAT grades play a bigger role?

For first-semester transfer freshmen, W&M has to base its decision primarily on the high school transcript since you will have no completed college coursework when you apply. Thus they need to determine whether or not you would have been competitive for admission out of high school.

If you are not admitted for the spring, remember that you can complete a simple re-open form for the fall semester and apply again when you will have complete one full semester and have estimated grades for your second semester.

Hello,
I was just wondering if anyone got their decision yet?
Are they sending out emails and then following up with acceptance letters via regular mail? Or are they just sending decisions via regular mail?

i think they only mail you the decisions…i havent gotten anything yet :/

Firebird91, that is what I was thinking.
I emailed them and they said letters were mailed Monday; we should be hearing soon!
Good luck!

oh okay
lovebp11 what state are you applying from and will you be entering as a junior or sophmore? im really nervous…

I’m applying from IL (out of stater—yikes) and applying as a sophomore. I got into Boston College as well so I’m hopeful but definitely not confident and a little nervous. Haha.
What about you?

I’m applying from University of Central Florida…but I don’t think chances are very high for me since I’ll be applying as a freshman second-semester :/

Firebird91, honestly if you don’t get in this time around, I’d encourage you to apply as a sophomore. It not only shows tenacity but it also shows that you seriously want to go to W&M. That way too you have a bit more of a college record.
And hey, you still don’t know…you could have gotten in.
Best of luck!

i received my decision mail promptly on the 10th. i am so excited and can not wait to start in january! definitely a dream come true!
