Hey everyone,

Really bored at home this summer wishing I had an opportunity to study abroad. I do not want to feel this way next summer. Can you guys name some study abroad programs that offer scholarships or internships that are paid.

Thanks

Here you go:
[NSLI-Y Summer Language Program | Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs](http://eca.state.gov/video/nsli-y-summer-language-program)

You’re welcome.

That program is BS… I applied with perfect grades/all 5s on APs/national merit commended/demonstrated love of languages (studying French, Spanish, and German) and still didn’t get in…

This program isn’t a normal study abroad programs but is a full scholarship and is a very respected program. They are looking for students who are mature and have more to them then just grades. They are highly selective so don’t just think anyone will get accepted. That being said apply, it will be very helpful if you do get into the program but it is language intensive. If you want something less involved you are going to have to pay the bill yourself or go on a mission trip or something or other. Good luck

Do you qualify for the Pell Grant? If so, Apply for a Benjamin Gilman scholarship for study abroad.

Thanks you guys. I do not qualify for NSLI since I am entering college in the fall. I will apply for the Benjamin Gilman scholarship though.

I know of a college student who took a job as a nanny/au pair in Spain. I’m not sure if she had to pay her own airfare. The summer job paid a total of 700 euros (around $900). She had weekends off to sightsee/travel. The host family provided room and board. Try google-ing ‘au pair’ and the name of the country to begin searching.

That sounds great Madison85. Thanks, I will look into that before next summer!
