Study abroad twice in Europe?

I have the space in my schedule to study abroad twice, and I am looking into Madrid and Manchester. I can’t do a full school year, so I would have to do a calendar year. I am a marketing major, and my goal is to work in New York in the live music industry. It’s a bit vague, but I’ve narrowed it down to that.

I am not sure how employers would see my decision to study abroad twice in Europe. I’m not sure if that’s something I should consider, but I currently am. I know they’re two different places, but they’re both modern western cities. I’m not sure if I should try going somewhere else, such as Latin America or Asia (besides Europe). I want to go to Madrid because I want to improve my Spanish, and I’m drawn to the late nights / relaxed lifestyle. I want to go to Manchester, because I know it’s a huge international music city, and it’s also a student city. Additionally, it’s cheaper than London. Overall, I want to see how others see the US, which I know I can get from both places. Unfortunately internships are not available in either places, so I would just be a student.

I’d think they would be positive if anything.

I’d recommend Barcelona for night life with live events.

Regardless :
Would you be allowed to have a legal job/gig?

Sounds rational to me.

Unfortunately Barcelona is too expensive (at my school) and I cannot have a job there.

Is there a place you could go to where you could also have an internship (even if unpaid)?

Have a look at …

Will give you an idea of what’s available. If you look at these programs, and keep looking, you´ll find quite a few possibilities.

There are internships, but I would chose language courses over internships. Based on what I have seen (I have four roommates, two were doing internships and two were doing language couirses) language courses will give you better results. I thought it would be different, but my roommates who did language courses learned tons - I really saw the imrpovement after 5 months.

The guys who did the internship, on the other hand, didn’t learn to speak as well. In part, because people wanted them for internships because they could speak English - which is what they did mostly during their internship. Also, noone seemed interested in helping them improve their Spanish, it was more like they were free English-speaking labor.

But, ultimately the choice is yours and you should do whatever most interests you or floats your boat.

You will love Madrid and the lifestyle, by the way!

Go for it!
