one of the reasons NYU is so appealing to me is b/c of their study abroad programs. If I study abroad in Florence my soph. year with GSP, does it cost any more than it would for me to spend the semester in New York? How does that work?

Another question: can we transfer to different schools travel-study programs? or are we obligated to NYU's? and how much credit can be given towards our majors?

To answer both your questions:

No, it will cost the same if you are in GSP, since you are directly enrolling through the NYU Study Abroad program. If you are in any other school at NYU you can study abroad through other universities for cheaper - since you are directly paying the school you are studying abroad with. (e.g. you live in Maryland and study abroad with UMaryland you pay in-state tuition) There is the trouble with transferring the credits, but I don't seeing it being a big deal unless you have a highly specific major.

thats great to know, thanks!

and to sort of kinda answer yours, usually for study abroad, the program's price is usually independent of the institution... i've seen programs for 5,000 to 25,000.

wait- so if I pay 45k to go to NYU, if I study abroad I'll have to pay 5 to 25k extra on top of that? or is it just the 45k? sorry I'm a bit confused...

okay, so say you study for a semester abroad as a temp transfer, then the only money you would be spending would be the money for the trip + airfare + living expense (which sometimes is included...so it can end up being cheaper than NYU), not NYU tuition of 22.5 a semester.

im pretty sure that is true, but i would get that officially checked for NYU, because i knew that that was the case at some other schools.
