Does anybody know if transferring to a school hurts your ability to study abroad at some point?

I just studied abroad (fall 2009) as a sophomore and it was fine, actually helped me with transferring credits (scholars program).

If you want to study abroad after you transfer, you can either 1) go to a place that your major suggests (i.e. if you are a french linguist they would want you to go to France, and have classes that transfer to your major) 2)go during the summer so it doesn’t affect your semester classes 2) study abroad a semester/year and just graduate later than expected

unless you are transferring as an entering sophomore, then it shouldn’t affect you at all

^I think they meant entering as a jr?? Some schools have a mandatory 2 years on campus, so as a jr transfer you would only be able to study abroad during the summer at these schools. Not all schools will let you delay graduation so that you can study abroad, particularly those who give generous FA.
