Studying at Brown

Hey,

I am an Australian student and I was wondering if Brown university let’s international students to study at Brown for a certain period of time, like an exchange program. I’m planning to start my first year of university here in Australia and then study overseas (hopefully Brown University) for an amount of time to gain a different experience and widen my views about my course.

I have received an early acceptance into a University here in the Australia and they have an study abroad/exchange program but have no partnership with any Ivy League Universities. I’ve looked at the information on Brown’s international students admission but I’m still not sure if I am able to spend a time of my course at Brown. So is it necessary to have a partnership between universities?

Thank you

You can take classes at Brown during the summer~

Thanks AmazingOnline.

Is that the Summer@Brown program? I’m not sure but it seems like it is only for high school senior students. As I am considering to study my first year of my course here in Australia and then attend Brown University.

I think that AmazingOnline misunderstood.

I’m not sure how these sorts of exchanges work, but I doubt you’re going to get much info on here – this is more for admissions to the uni as a permanent student. I think you should get in touch with Brown directly and ask about visiting from abroad during your undergraduate years. I’m not sure who exactly to ask, but if you get in touch with the admissions office, I’m sure they can steer you in the right direction.

One question: what interests you in Brown in particular?

Okay, thanks mgcsinc.

I have relatives and family friends that have attended Brown university and a majority of them actually studied the same course as me - Computer Science (CS). They have told me that it was an amazing experience and very well taught at Brown. Many of them did exchanges to worldwide universities as still said Brown was/is one of the best.

From hearing this, I researched and read the Computer science information at Brown and found it very interesting. In comparison to some the other universities I’ve been looking into, Brown offers some CS courses that I am really interested in. They focus on a particular course with such complexity as oppose to some universities that present a CS course as a whole with brief teachings of different components.

Therefore, I want to study here in Australia first, get introduced to the course and then hopefully continue my studies at Brown and experience their diverse, complex and intriguing CS courses.
