Stuff you can do while you are waiting to go to UT

Get a utexas.edu email account with your UT EID.

Join the Official Class of 2017 Facebook page for all students admitted to The University of Texas at Austin.

Have fun

How do we get our utexas.edu email address?

Get one here: https://get.utmail.utexas.edu/

If you’re ever in Austin, you can go ahead and get your student ID, too. That way, you won’t have to stand in the long line at orientation.

I would say that it’s only worth it to do that if you’re ever near campus. Driving in from a random part of Austin is a bit extreme in my opinion.

If things haven’t changed too much (they probably have), then there’s a period after orientation check-in during which they give optional tours. People tend to wander around campus during this time so it’s good to get your ID then. The line doesn’t build up until much later.

I can’t get one, says I’m not eligible even though I’ve been accepted. lol

@asianandproud, you have to accept your admission and pay the $200 fee in order to be able to upgrade your ID and obtain a UT email address.

@txex86, That’s strange. I have done neither and I was able to sign up for one.

@labeisoup, that’s unusual for you to be able to upgrade your UT EID since it is for students who are/will be enrolling at UT (hence the admission acceptance). Perhaps the UT web address is easier to obtain now, but when my kiddo got hers last year she had to wait until she had accepted her admission.

I haven’t upgraded my UT EID at all.

Then why would you obtain a UT web address if you haven’t accepted your admittance? Just curious.

I plan to go to UT. I’ll just accept later.
