Where and when do we get this?

orientation

If you are in Austin, you get it at the Flawn Academic Center on the main floor. I went and had mine done ahead of time to save the hassle during orientation. Bring ID with you when you go to get it.

It takes 5-10 min max. You MUST have a photo ID and I believe if you are still 17 you need a parent/guardian to upgrade your EID.

It is located at the Flawn Academic Center (the FAC, pronounced “The eff ay see”), right next to the Texas Union and just off of the Main Mall, in the area between the two large study rooms on the main floor.

what does upgrading the UT EID do? and what if you don’t get it done at orientation cause my parents won’t be attending

I believe you must have an upgraded one to do certain things online. What those things are, I don’t remember since it has been too long for me. You may have to have it in order to register online.

Yes, it’s necessary. If you are a minor you MUST have your parents there–no exceptions, as far as I know. You need to have your parents there for at least the first day if you are under 18.

What is involved in upgrading an EID? Does that require an ID, as well, because I will not have one during orientation and was told this would not be an enormous problem, as long as I had one by August?

Do you think an aunt will be able to sign? My aunt lives in Austin…

look around on the ut website for upgrading ID and you should find a form you can get notorized and either mail in or bring to orientation to upgrade your ID.

This site should answer your question about upgrading your UTEID. [ID Center - Help - Upgrading Your UT EID](http://www.utexas.edu/its/idcenter/answers/eid.php) Then I would also look at the other tabs from this page to find out more information about the ID Card.
