Subject Honors Societies and Admission

In addition to NHS, my school offers subject honors societies such as English, math, science, social studies, etc. How beneficial are these groups for competitive/ivy league college admission? Is it important to be a member in most of these groups or is it a waste of time? Would it be more beneficial to join the groups that are related to your passion. I love politics and it would make sense to join the Ro Khapa social studies honors society, but I do enjoy math, science and English. Thanks

They are as beneficial as NHS. Which is to say - not very. And probably less, since NHS usually has a volunteering requirement. But if you enjoy them, join. If not, don’t.

Make sure when you list them on your applications that you use “Honor Society” and not “Honors Society”

Why not join them? It is an affirmation that you do well in that area. Of course your grades are a similar affirmation.
