Subject Test Decision

Hey guys,

The last date to take subject tests for stanford ea is October, and my subject test scores are 740 Math II and 790 Physics (I messed up).
Since those are below Ivy standards (especially for someone going into physics) I’m not sure whether I should submit them at all… Stanford said it’s recommended but not required, and they won’t penalize for not submitting any. I am planning to retake them in November, however I doubt Stanford will receive those scores in time.

Here are the rest of my details, the rest of my application shows good math scores:
~4.0 GPA (couple bad courses)
790 SAT Math, ~760-780 SAT reading (haven’t gotten scores yet)
5 on AP Calc BC and AP Physics C: E&M

Would it harm my application to submit them or should I just not?

No, they’re not.

Stanford does not admit by major.

If you get rejected for a 740, I highly doubt you would have been accepted with an 800. If you retake a 790, you risk an AO viewing you as the poster child for overtesting. Send what you have. Good luck.

Good to know, thank you!

qazx71: Ease up on yourself, I would say, and don’t rap yourself on the back of the knuckles so much. Take a deep breath, and let them really know who you are (you, not the stats-affirmed-you) in your essays. Good luck as you go forward!
