1st attempt: 790 math II
Second attempt: 800 math II

I took the SAT Subject tests more than once.

I retook Chemistry- score was still a 700.

I retook the test because I thought I hadn’t studied hard enough the first time.

I took Literature twice because, taking it the first time, I didn’t move quickly enough through the test and didn’t answer about 12 of the questions. I got a 660. When I retook it, I moved much more quickly and even had a couple minutes to spare, and I got a 730.

I graduated in 2003, so like someone else above Writing was a SAT II section. I think I got something like a 530 on it the first time, said that must just be a bad day, so I retook it. Wound up with a 510.

Oddly enough, when I took the PSAT I had a predicted score of something like 600 on the Math section, but then when I took the actual SAT I got a 770. Other scores were a 690 on Reading, 790 on Math IIc, and 800 on Chemistry.

Don’t think it mattered since I got into all the schools I was interested in (with some pretty decent aid, too).

I took Biology-M at the beginning of my junior year just because I signed up for a language (listening) test, and I didn’t want to waste so much money for just ONE test. I only got a 600 because there were so many things that I didn’t learn.
I was also taking AP Biology in my junior year, so I took the Bio test again in June. It was a lot easier and I got a 770.

–which test or tests did you retake?

Math II.

–Why did you retake the test? (Presumably, to try for a better score, but was there some other reason? For instance, were you sick when you tried the test the first time? Did you enroll in another class in this subject after initially taking the test? Other reasons?)

Well, math is my best subject and my major heavily involves math, but I don’t do too well on math standardized tests. so the first time i got a 700, which isn’t too great for someone planning to do a lot of math in their major, so i retook in senior year after being in calculus bc for a couple months + more studying/practice, and got a 760.

–How did your scores compare? Did you do better the second time? If so, what was the difference?

60 points better, so yes, significant improvement.

My S’s experience was like Eiffel’s. He took Literature twice because, taking it the first time, he didn’t move quickly enough and didn’t answer many questions. He got a 630. Next time, he moved quickly and got a 740.

–If so, which test or tests did you retake?

Math I, U.S. History

–Why did you retake the test? (Presumably, to try for a better score, but was there some other reason? For instance, were you sick when you tried the test the first time? Did you enroll in another class in this subject after initially taking the test? Other reasons?)

No reason beside to try for a better score.

–How did your scores compare? Did you do better the second time? If so, what was the difference?

Math I: 600 -> 660 -> 770
U.S. History: 640 -> 700 -> 680

I’m a freshman.

I’m retaking my Math II TOMORROW because I received a 750 on it. (75th percentile)

I aimed for an 800 because the curve was so easy (~43/50), but MIDTERMS got in the way in December… D:

Took Math II twice. First time I was somewhere in the 50th percentile, second time I was somewhere in the 70th percentile. 100pt increase, but still sucks.

Here are the median scores for the subject tests: [Average SAT Scores - SAT Subject Tests](<a href=“What were SAT Subject Tests? - College Board Blog”>SAT Suite of Assessments - College Board Research)

The Chinese with listening test still amazes me. 763 is the median?!

All right, back on topic–never retaken any SAT.

16 seconds

–Which test or tests did you retake?
Math II and US History.

**–Why did you retake the test? **
I got a 690 in Math II and a 600 in US History. I basically wasn’t prepared and didn’t have time to study anything for that subject test date in April of junior year. And obviously these were not good scores since I was shooting for Wharton @ Penn.

–How did your scores compare? Did you do better the second time? If so, what was the difference?
Second try in November of senior year was 760 in Math II and 720 in US History. I actually still barely studied at all, only studied 8 hours straight the day before the test. I did 3 Math II practice tests and skimmed through all of AMSCO. I think collegeboard pitied me. :P

I took World History and Math. I plan to retake the math, so we’ll see how that goes.
And good luck!

Son got a 730 on Math IIc the first time he took it because he ran out of time. He retook it and got a 800 the next year.

Son took SAT II last June for the first time. World History 730, Math II 760, Chemistry 730. He is thinking about re-taking Math II this June, but does not have time to do any prep. Is it worthwhile re-taking? Is there any advantage of taking more than three SAT IIs?

I retook Math II.

I took it after sophomore precalculus and earned a 750. Decided that wasn’t good enough for where I wanted to apply (MIT and Caltech), so I retook it after junior year and earned an 800.

I imagine only people raised with Chinese take the test, making it a rather meaningless exam.

I wonder if we’ll see a similar trend with the Spanish test as more and more Hispanic students apply to schools requiring SAT IIs.

–Which test or tests did you retake?
Math I, Math II, and German (the second time with listening)

–Why did you retake the test?
I got a 730 in Math II, 750 in Math I and a 660 in German. I wanted to improve my German score but since it only costed a few bucks more, I registered for the Math exams too.

–How did your scores compare? Did you do better the second time? If so, what was the difference?
I got a 800 in math I, 780 in math II, and 640 in German with Listening. So overall it was worth it although my german score went below my previous score. It shocked most of us (took it with friends) how difficult the listening part was. In the official german with Listening practice test I got 740. But it doesnt really matter, since most schools actually take the two math subject tests as two different tests -such as Columbia or Yale, or Dartmouth. (I only asked these three, and got a positive answer from all of them)

I did not know this before (and Im happy I didnt, otherwise I would not have taken the tests again to improve my third subject score.) However, Columbia (but only Columbia) said they would recommend a third test besides the two math. -sorry for being a little bit off topic but I hope it can help to some of you…
