Subject to Academic Disqualification - please help me

Hi there.
So I am currently an undergrad freshman at UCD as a computer engineering student.
During my first quarter here, I was extremely depressed and had severe migraines (even fainted on my final due to the pain). That’s why I failed one of my classes, got C’s in the others and got a B for a workload class (which doesn’t even count towards GPA :expressionless: ). Because my first quarter’s GPA was 1.00, I was “subject to academic disqualification”. I appealed and they let me stay.
During my second quarter I retook the class I previously failed and managed to get a GPA of 2.52.
HOWEVER, my overall GPA is 1.805 now and my transcript says I am subject to AD. I believe I found the study techniques that work for me and can do even better during my 3rd quarter. I really want to stay and learn at UCD. What are my chances of staying? Or will they most probably kick me out?

TL;DR: Freshman here with 1st quarter GPA of 1.00, 2nd quarter raised it to 2.52. Cumulative GPA is still 1.805 < 2.00. Will they kick me out or let me stay? Thanks in advance.

You’ll have to meet with an adviser and discuss your situation. From what you’re saying, you’re making an honest effort to improve and it’s showing. Based on that they should let you stay. You won’t know for sure until you talk to an adviser though.

As far as the migraines, I’ve had them since I was a kid and have had them during exams and such before, so I get where you’re coming from. If they’ve been chronic (even if they just started last quarter), I’d go to your doctor about them if you haven’t already. They may be able to help you get them under control. It took me until last quarter to finally bring it up with my doctor at a general appointment, but now my migraines are more predictable and less severe. Just a suggestion so it hopefully doesn’t cause problems in the future.
