Submit a picture with your application?

I heard rumors that submitting a picture sometimes can effect your application, especially if you look attractive. Should you submit your picture - if you feel that you’re attractive? Does it really, honestly, help? Or does it not play a role at all?

i think if they offer the option, do it, if they don't, don't. I don't think it effects it much unless your like incredibly out-of-this-world hot

Like in Legally Blonde? haha.

It's been proven that people are drawn to attractive people, so if you are a hottie, do it. :) Better be sure you look good, though.

I'm half-kidding. I'd say it's probably safer not to submit one, but honestly, it really shouldn't matter much.

Well these days, anything that can help is worth it...

lol, try to look... euh... what's the world... reserved.
You don't want them to NOTICE that you were trying to impress them with a picture.

Yeah, I guess it could hurt the app. as easily as it could help it.

yeah i'd probably scare the adcoms. they'd burn my picture

When I filed my app for Georgetown, the application requested a picture (optional) and I sent in a photo from a conference I attended. I'm not good-looking and I managed to get in despite the fact :) I think it allows admission officers an opportunity to see the person their reading about, even though it's just a picture. Adds a 3 dimentional aspect in a 2 dimensional way.

lol, yeah mine too, they'll have a bonfire.
Though a word to the wise...
if you submit a picture, beautiful or not, it may go both ways for you. I mean look, if you were a 420 pound self-conscious male and you had to sit in a hot humid room looking at applications all day. Then you see this guy submit his picture with chiseled ab, what would you think?

this reminds me of how evil I am because if I was an adcom I'd rejct people left and right

I think Colby asks for one.

If any schools I apply to require one, I'm either a) simply not applying because it's goofy or b) submitting something silly, like a cartoon or a drawing. They claim they just want them so they can "have a face in mind" when going over applications, but there are other ways to do things.

I think columbia asks for one as well. trust me, if they saw me, they wouldn't admit.

Maybe some schools have AA for ugly nerds. We might have hope!

they should. i mean i could die my skin or something if i was white, but I can't turn off the ugliness lol :p

Because at top schools, nerds are SUCH a URM....

ugly nerds are though! Well I'm an ugly, black nerd. This must count for something!

Common guys whats Photoshop good for =)

seriously now: If you are attractive and they dont request like in the common app is it worth sending? Should I send it a 3x4 (passport size picture)

or possibly I could put a small pic on the resume.

Passport size pictures are 2X2 :) Just a little note because you don't want your picture rejected when applying for a U.S. passport.

2x2 what? is that inches? or centimeters?
